Revitalization continues in Callao

CALLAO—Members of the Callao Hometown Community Association (CHCA) on Tuesday, October 25, shared updates for the continued revitalization of Callao.

County administrator Luttrell Tadlock shared how the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) revitalization grant had been spent and the county is in the process of closing the grant down.

“It’s hard to believe that we started this process in 2015-2016 timeframe. We started with the Northern Neck Planning District Commission and formed the Callao Management Team and have been working through the planning process.”

Tadlock said with the $700,000 grant plus the $48,000 in private donations, the Callao business district was able to update 15 façades, have seven murals painted and offer five loans totaling…..
