Richard T. Washington Jr.

Richard T. Washington Jr.

SACRAMENTO, CA—Richard Thomas Washington Jr. slipped into eternal rest at his home in Sacramento, California, on July 21, 2022.

He was born November 28, 1934, in Essex County to the late Richard T. Washington Sr. and Queen E. Washington.

Richard received his education at A.T. Wright High School in White Stone. At an early age, he became a member of St. Paul Methodist Church.

Richard entered the United States Air Force after graduating from high school. He had an extensive history of overseas tours to the United Kingdom, Thailand, Spain, Italy and Greenland. He retired from the United States Air Force just two days shy of 23 years on October 1, 1979. He ended his tour of duty in California where he became a resident for over 30 years.

He owned a successful building maintenance business that he operated until he fully retired.

Richard lived a fulfilling life enjoying traveling, spectator sports and doing the things he loved the most such as golf and being a member of a bowling team, winning championships and certificates for bowling a perfect game.

He was an intelligent, upstanding leader and loved his family. Do not get him started on politics because he would tell you one thing or two what he thought about it. He left an imprint on all who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his son, Bruce Washington; sister, Lou Ethel Hubbard; brothers, George (Yoma), Benjamin, Charles, “Mickey” (Tim), Robert (Theresa), Felix, “Mike”, and William “Dickey.”

He leaves to cherish his loving memories a host of nieces, nephews, friends and close cousin, Lorraine “Sissy” Battle of Essex County.

Campbell Funeral Home of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
