WARSAW—According to releases from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, an alleged road rage incident Wednesday, August 16, on Route 360 in Warsaw turned fatal.
At approximately 3 p.m., the Warsaw Police Department, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Tappahannock Police Department, Virginia State Police, Richmond County Emergency Services and the Essex County Emergency Services responded to an incident that had escalated into a drive-by shooting. An adult female in one of the vehicles died.
Both vehicles were traveling west on Route 360.
James Anthony Benjamin Barnes and a passenger in the vehicle involved in the incident were later apprehended following a pursuit by law enforcement in South Carolina.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Warsaw Police Chief V.A. “Trey” Blake.
