MILA—Robert Charles Dameron, 85, of Mila passed away on May 18, 2026.
Robert was born June 2, 1940 in Richmond, but he lived all his life in the Mila area and was well known throughout the community. He was the youngest of three children.
Robert attended Northumberland High School. Following school he chose to follow his passion and that was the water. After military service he made a career on the water, dedicating his working career to his favorite business, catching blue crabs and oysters. Everyone knew him as a hardworking, dependable and compassionate individual whose integrity and dedication earned the respect and admiration of many.
Outside of work, Robert found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed many activities, especially the cherished time spent with family, friends and the community.
He was a proud veteran of the Army, and honorably served in the mid 1960s.
Robert was also a devoted member of Mila United Methodist Church for many years and later the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kilmarnock.
Robert is survived by a son, William, of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; his parents, Benjamin and Iris Dameron; and two sisters, Virginia (Dameron) and Bettie (Sisson).
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 5, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kilmarnock. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
