WHITE STONE—Robert Coleman Longan III of White Stone passed away June 21, 2018.
Bob was born in Richmond April 23, 1944, to Dr. Robert Coleman Longan Jr. and Alice V. Longan.
He is survived by Jane Caldwell (Turner) of Cartersville; and three nieces.
Bob was a biomedical engineer with Rappahannock General Hospital, Kilmarnock, for many years from which he retired. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he received training that led to his career.
Bob was especially proud of his involvement with Operation Smile, a worldwide volunteer medical service organization repairing facial deformities in children, in Bolivia and Venezuela.
In his community he delighted in giving tours at Historic Christ Church. Bob also enjoyed being a ham radio operator and loved to tinker with anything electronic at which he was extremely skilled.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Irvington Baptist Church. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
