WHITE STONE—Robert L. “JR” Radcliffe Jr., 76, of White Stone passed away on March 24, 2018, at Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Radcliffe Sr. and Irene Ewing Radcliffe; and his brother, Dr. Lee Radcliffe.

JR is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dr. Cynthia West Radcliffe; two children, Sarah R. Gross (Kevin), Richmond, and Robert L. Radcliffe III (Ilana), Morristown, N.J.;  five beloved grandchildren, Benjamin, Amelia, Leo, Asher and Bennet; his sisters, Barbara Sanders and Diane Clevenger; and brothers, Barry Radcliffe and Michael Radcliffe; and many other cherished friends and family who will miss him dearly.

Born on June 21, 1940, he grew up in Francesville, Ind., where he began in a one-room schoolhouse and went on to graduate from Indiana University School of Business. His career in corporate packaging spanned more than 40 years garnering him several industry awards. He founded his own company, Display Dynamics, which was on the leading edge of the scrapbooking industry. JR also served in the Army Reserves right after he graduated from college and regaled his family with stories of bravery while on KP duty.

JR retired with his wife to White Stone 10 years ago to be closer to his grandkids and filled his time by serving on the board of the Northern Neck Food Bank, volunteering with the AARP income tax program and for his neighborhood association.

He loved his tractor, being on the river, traveling with his wife and was committed to leaving his mark on his community.  Always eager to sit and talk over a good meal, JR could and did make friends with anyone.

A private scattering of ashes is planned at their home in White Stone and at Paul’s Chapel in Winnamac, Ind.

Memorial contributions can be made to Northern Neck Food Bank, Warsaw.
