KILMARNOCK—Robert Lee Jennings, 91, of Kilmarnock passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Jennings Ortiz and son-in-law Pierre J. Ortiz Jr.; grandson, Peter J. Ortiz and his wife Sharon; granddaughter, Jennifer O. Duffy and her husband O’Bun Duffy; and five great-grandchildren, Kayden, Lucas, James, Malia and Kailani. He is also survived by his nephew Ralph D. Jennings and his wife Eva; and their son, Stephen Jennings.
Robert “Bob” was born in Washington, D.C. He was the son of John H. Jennings and Nellie Revelle Jennings, and brother of John R. Jennings. He grew up in Bowie, Md. In 1955, Bob married Helen Marie Taylor of Crossville, Tenn. They were married 68 years.
Bob began his career at C & P Telephone, then became a communication engineer for Ford Aerospace and Nokia. He was a talented mechanic, rebuilding numerous cars and was a member of the Model T Club and Classic Car Club. He was a quiet man who loved his family. He and Helen lived in Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia, trying to always be close to the water. He enjoyed boating and fishing.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. January 2 at Kilmarnock United Methodist Church in Kilmarnock. Burial at Roseland Cemetery in Reedville will be private.
