Rockin’ country show coming August 18

Danny Kensy & Cedar Creek and Itchy Dog will be featured Thursday, August 16, at Music on the Half Shell Stage. The show will begin at 5 p.m. at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.

“With a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll you are going to enjoy these groups, they have a great variety of music and sound,” said mayor Mae Umphlett.

A Country Music Association group from Richmond, Danny Kensy & Cedar Creek perform original country, Top 40 country and classic rock. Cedar Creek has been voted top country band for numerous years in Maryland and Virginia.

Itchy Dog offers high energy soul shaking classic rock and blues with a lot of funk and a bit of punk.

The music starts at 5 p.m. with Itchy Dog. Food will be available on site from Ms. Barbra’s Hot Dog Cart, VA Blue Crab Co., Uncle Jay’s Soul and Sweets and Dullies and Dough. Adult beverages will be for sale by Lancaster by the Bay Chamber of Commerce.

Music on the Half Shell Stage is a six-concert series sponsored by Chesapeake Bank.

Tickets for the August 16 concert are $5 per person and free for ages 11 and younger. Bring chairs or blankets. Coolers and dogs are not allowed. The splash pad will not operate during the concert; last splash at 4 p.m.

Tickets are available at www.kilmarnockva.com, or the door. Credit card purchases have a $.30 processing fee per ticket.
