Roger H. McKinley Jr.

Roger H. McKinley Jr.

KILMARNOCK—Roger Hobson McKinley Jr., the son of Roger Hobson McKinley Sr. and Betty Jane McKinley, was born on February 6, 1972, in Richmond.

He attended the schools of Northumberland County from which he later earned his diploma. From a young age, Roger found himself busy with many clubs, leagues and social groups. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, participated in the Talented and Gifted program at school, was a member of the school band, played baseball in the local Little League and could also be found on the soccer field.

Roger found work through his passion and love for construction and design. He built beautiful homes and piers across the entire Northern Neck in which many residents still reside, to this day. Throughout his entire life, he possessed an extreme love for music and the Lord. He was a gifted pianist and on Sundays would lead praise and worship at his local church.

On July 3, 2021, Roger unexpectedly passed and went home to be with the Lord.

Roger is survived by both his mother and father; his four children, Bethany, Destiny, Joshua and Benjamin; and his brother, Scott. Although not listed, Roger’s life will be cherished by so many others whose lives he touched.

A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at Currie followed by a graveside service at Providence Baptist Church in Miskimon. The family invites you to a celebration of life for Roger.

If you wish to send flowers or donations, both would be greatly appreciated. Flowers can be addressed to Currie Funeral Home and donations can be sent to the “Roger McKinley GoFundMe Memorial” page.
