WICOMICO CHURCH—Roland “Danny” Kiser, 85, peacefully passed away on June 1, 2026, at his beloved home, “Hopevale” in Wicomico Church. A man of profound character and strong spirit, Danny leaves behind a legacy of integrity, hard work and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
Born on September 18, 1940, in Washington, D.C., Danny was known for his inquisitive mind and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Throughout his years, he embodied the values of kindness and resilience, serving as a pillar of strength for those who knew him best.
The life of Danny was profoundly marked by a steadfast commitment to his professional callings and personal passions. A proud alumnus of the class of 1962 of the Virginia Military Institute, he earned his degree in electrical engineering before answering the call to service as a first lieutenant in the United States Army, where he served with distinction in both Korea and Vietnam. Following his military tenure, he dedicated 38 years of excellence to the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, which became Bell Atlantic, and eventually concluding his storied career as the vice president of operations at Verizon.
Outside of his professional life, Danny found his greatest joy in the simple moments spent with his loved ones. He was a dedicated family man who took immense pride in the achievements of his children and grandchildren. His home was often a place of laughter, storytelling and the warmth of shared meals. His community of extended family and dear friends will also miss his presence and wisdom.
Danny is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Nancy Moore Kiser; his children, Kenneth (Amy) Kiser and David (Karen) Kiser; and his four cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, William and Braden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Florence Kiser; and his son, William Moore Kiser.
There will be a service and celebration of life planned in the near future.
