WARSAW—Roy Lee Jewell, 82, of Warsaw passed away on March 12, 2025, with his loving wife of 60 years at his bedside.
He was born in Lottsburg to the late Opie Lee Jewell and Marie Rice Jewell. Roy retired from Wood Preservers Inc. in Warsaw in 2008 and from his own business, Jewell’s Buildings, in 2022. He was a dedicated member of Totuskey Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Roy also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Roy loved sports, and playing ball at the Callao Ruritan Lot in his younger years was a favorite. Then, as he got older, he chose to watch his grandchildren in their sports. Affectionally known as “Pop-Pop” or “Pop” he attended almost every game or match his grandchildren ever played and he was their biggest fan. Roy loved being a grandfather and most recently a great-grandfather more than anything else.
Left to cherish Roy’s memory are his wife, Donna; his daughter, Janet Jewell Childs (Norman); his grandchildren, Matthew Jewell (Morgan), Josh Jewell (Andrea), Jacob Jewell (Brianne), Kristen Holland (Wes) and Kaylee Childs; his daughter-in-law, Dawn Jewell; and his great-grandchildren, Quinn Jewell and Adalyn Holland. Roy is also survived by his brothers, David Jewell (Betty) and Ray Jewell (Annette); his sister-in-law, Beverly Self; his brother-in-law, Dougie Bryant; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Todd Jewell; his parents, Opie and Marie Jewell; his brother, Donald Jewell; and his sister-in-law, Billie Sue Bryant.
A funeral service and celebration of Roy’s life was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Totuskey Baptist Church. The Reverend Neale Schools officiated. Roy’s burial followed the service at Totuskey Baptist Church Cemetery where Roy was laid to rest beside his beloved son, Todd.
