Despite a rainy start, “Saleabration Days” June 11 and 12 were declared a success by organizers.
The two-day sales event, sponsored by the Kilmarnock Museum and Chesapeake Bank, attracted a multitude of shoppers to town on Saturday, reported museum president Carroll Lee Ashburn. Several merchants among the 50 participating businesses reported banner days, he said.
Even on Friday, some shoppers braved periods of torrential rains, though they got drenched, said Ashburn.
