Sandra Kay Cook

KILMARNOCK—Sandra Kay Cook, 86, of Kilmarnock passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025.

She was born on August 24, 1939, in Jackson, Tennessee.

Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 51 years, John A. “Jack” Cook; and her parents, Luther Bernice and Virginia Tuck Billingsley.

Kay is survived by her four children, Terry Lyn Stillman (Dana), Randall James Biss, Robert Kevin Biss and Cary Daniel Biss (Trish); her stepchildren, Cathleen Viola Miller, Ruth Ann Cook, Daniel Brian Cook (Lisa) and Kevin Arthur Cook (Darlene). She is also survived by her brother, James Daniel Billingsley (Jeannie); and a blended family of 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Kay completed her education along with two years of nursing school in Jackson. She spent many years as a lab technician in Maryland. After retirement, she and Jack built a home in Brightwaters in White Stone, and later a home in Kilmarnock. They were snowbirds for many years spending winters in Ft. Myers, Florida, enjoying square dancing, teaching line dancing, traveling, camping, Bible study and playing cards or board games with family and friends.

Kay was never one for spotlights, but she never forgot being kissed by Elvis at Graceland in the 1960s. Kay was a wonderful caretaker for Jack for many years when he developed Parkinson’s. She was a loving wife, mother and grand mom, who loved sewing and crafting for others.

Kay will be remembered for her warm smile and unwavering love for her Lord, family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in John Cook’s name to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
