NEWPORT, N.C.—Shantel De Von Taylor-Rogers of Newtown, N.C., formerly of Lancaster, died April 17, 2018.
Born August 17, 1972, she was the daughter of Willard and Gwendolyn Marie Polk-Taylor.
She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and attended Lancaster County schools before moving to Cherry Point, N.C., at the age of 6. From there she relocated to Washington State with her father and mother before returning to Cherry Point, N.C., and graduating from Havelock High School in 1990. She pursued higher education in Austin, Texas, and later North Carolina.
Mrs. Taylor-Rogers was a first grade teacher assistant.
She is survived by her husband, Larry O. Rogers; daughter, Jakia M. Taylor; son, Christian B. Taylor; sisters, Jennell Wood, Jentell Taylor and Shunell Taylor.
A funeral was held Sunday, April 22, at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Newport, N.C., interment followed Monday, April 23 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery, White Stone.
