Share family stories through art

No drawing skills are necessary to participate in the art workshops at the Family Stories through Art Weekend September 29 to October 1 at the RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.

“The mission of visiting instructor, Sharon Santillo, is to help you save your family stories, one story at a time,” said Mary Jo Beswick.

“Her highly-engaging method of Picture-Writing™ is accessible to all, no matter what your artistic background,” said Beswick. “Using simple collage techniques you will hand paint papers, cut and paste and create a beautiful collage keepsake or story book to share with your family and friends, just in time for Thanksgiving.”

There are three workshops to choose from:

• Teens-Story Keepsake is September 29, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

• Child & Adult Partner-Story Keepsake is September 30, 10 a.m. to noon.

• Adults-Family Story Book is two days, September 30 and October 1, 1 to 6 p.m.

“Every family has stories. Some are tragic, some are funny and some are just about ordinary life,” said Beswick. “Just pick one and join us for a transforming experience at Family Stories through Art.”
