Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against three individuals.
Felonies
Jerel Lamar Newton, 36, of Kilmarnock was charged January 12 with manufacturing, selling, giving, distributing or possessing with the intent to manufacture, sell, give or distribute a control substance; and knowingly and intentionally possessing or transporting a firearm after having been convicted of a violent felony.
Ariel Maw Abbott, 34, of Weems was charged January 13 with abuse and neglect of a child younger than 18; and assault and battery of a family and household member (misdemeanor).
Misdemeanor
A Gloucester man, 33, was charged January 14 with appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
Activity report
January 12: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a domestic assault, and to the 900 block of Black Stump Road for trespassing.
January 13: Staff responded to the 12000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious vehicle, and to the 10000 block of Mary Ball Road for a breaking and entering.
January 14: Staff responded to the 200 block of Flats Lane for trespassing.
January 15: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the highway, to the 1900 block of White Chapel Road for a vehicle hit and run, and to the 10 block of Buttercup Lane for suspicious activity.
January 16: Staff responded to Mary Ball and River roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for destruction of property.
January 17: Staff responded to the Norris Bridge for debris in the highway, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for larceny, to the 200 block of Harbour View Drive for larceny, to the 70 block of Peake Road for trespassing, and to the 11000 block of Mary Ball Road for a disabled vehicle.
January 18: Staff responded to the 3000 block of Merry Point Road for a civil complaint, and to Old Salem Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.
Staff also conducted 19 traffic stops, issued 24 summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled two requests for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, logged two inmate transports, received six E911 hang up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.
Fire calls
Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash on Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, and a brush fire on Fleets Bay Road.
Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a traffic crash at Mary Ball and River roads and with Kilmarnock VFD and White Stone VFD to a residential structure fire on Cottage Cove Way.
White Stone VFD also responded to a fire alarm on Windmill Point Road.
Reminder, those charged with alleged crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
