Sheriff’s Report 02-13-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against four individuals.

A Lancaster man, 35, was charged February 3 with contempt of court, failure to appear.

A White Stone man, 35, was charged February 4 with intentional damage of property over $1,000 and assault and battery of a family member.

A Kilmarnock woman, 29, was charged February 5 with failure to appear on a misdemeanor offense.

A Weems man, 55, was charged February 10 with appearing intoxicated in public.

Activity report

February 3: Staff responded to 8311 Mary Ball Road for a two-vehicle crash not on the highway, and to the 800 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a large brush fire in need of traffic control.

February 4: Staff responded to the 100 block of Woods Drive for a domestic assault, to the 100 block of Hatton Avenue to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department with an assault, and to the 1200 block of Belmont Drive to check the welfare of the resident after being alerted of a medical condition by a family member.

February 5: Staff responded to the 100 block of Washington Street for a burglary and larceny of a television and Bluetooth speaker.

February 6: Staff responded to the 3900 block of River Road for an abandoned vehicle blocking a portion of the highway.

February 7: Staff responded to the 100 block of Fox Trail North for the report of a sudden death, to North Main Street for the report of a larceny that occurred at the 300 block of River Village Drive, to North Main Street for a stolen cell phone at the 300 block of Weems Road, to Gaskins Road for an attempted assault by use of a vehicle, and to Mosquito Point Road for a downed tree in the roadway.

February 8: Staff responded to the 7600 block of River Road for an overturned single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a hit and run crash on private property, and to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for a domestic disturbance with weapons.

February 9: Staff responded to the 100 block of Harris Road for an intoxicated pedestrian, to the 100 block of Richtown Road for a fight in progress, to the 1400 block of Irvington Road for a suspicious intoxicated person, to the 500 block of Wilson Lane for an occupied suspicious vehicle, to the 7800 block of River Road for a vehicle striking a fuel pump, and to the 1000 block of Laurel Point Road for vandalism.

Staff also conducted 22 traffic stops, issued 10 summonses, assisted eight motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled seven calls for traffic control, investigated six building alarms, logged six inmate transports, received five E911 hang-up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Upper Lancaster and Kilmarnock volunteer fire departments responded to a large brush and structure fire on Crawfords Corner Road.

The Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to a utility pole fire at West Point and Merry Point roads and a traffic crash on River Road.

The Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a mutual aid request for the Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department on Flood Point Farm Road.

EMS calls

For February 2-8, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 39 calls, including 25 medical emergencies, five injuries, a traffic accident, two fires and six other calls.
