Sheriff’s Report 07-14-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against eight individuals.

Felonies

Juquis Joevon Smith, 25, of Heathsville was charged July 11 with maliciously causing bodily injury with the intent to maim, disfigure or kill, where the victim was thereby severely injured and was caused to suffer permanent physical impairment.

Gary Allen Germain Jr., 23, of Lancaster was charged July 8 with a probation/parole violation on a felony offense.

Misdemeanors

A Weems man, 19, was charged July 7 with assault.

A Weems man, 72, was charged July 7 with failure to appear in court on a traffic summons.

Activity Report

July 4: Staff responded to Windmill Point Road and British Landing Drive for suspicious activity, to the 2100 block of White Chapel Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 100 block of Windjammer Lane for an intoxicated trespasser, to the 300 block of Devils Bottom Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Entertainment Drive for a reckless driver, to the 100 block of Shady Lane for a single-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, to the 2000 block of Regina Road for an individual with an altered mental status in possession of weapons, and to the 500 block of Chesapeake Drive for suspicious activity.

July 5: Staff responded to the 900 block of Townley Farm Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Whisk Drive for a stolen catalytic converter, to Mary Ball Road and Simmons Lane for shooting in the area, to the 100 block of Harris Road for a sexual assault, to the 900 block of Irvington Road for a trespasser, and to the 500 block of North Main Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance.

July 6: Staff responded to the 200 block of James Cove Landing to check the welfare of a resident, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive to assist White Stone Police Department an embezzlement of $1,000, to the 2900 block of Lara Road for a subject of an emergency custody order, to Mary Ball and Morattico roads for a disabled vehicle in the roadway, to the 300 block of Newtown Road for vandalism of a driveway, to the 500 block of Wilson Lane for a fight in progress, and to the 300 block of High Bank Road for suspicious activity.

July 7: Staff responded to the 100 block of Pinckardsville Road for a trespasser, to the 100 block of West High Bank Road for a noise violation from fireworks, and to the 100 block of Bunkhouse Lane for a wanted person.

July 8: Staff responded to Weems and Christ Church Roads for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 10400 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for a multiple-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, to the 200 block of Cow Shed Road for a wanted person, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a possible intoxicated driver, to the 1600 block of Chownings Ferry Road for an intoxicated driver, and to the 4800 block of Windmill Point Road for the larceny of drink cooler.

July 9: Staff responded to the 100 block of Commanche Lane to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a disorderly person, to the 100 block of Ottoman Ferry Road for the unauthorized use of a vehicle, to the 1600 block of Ottoman Ferry Road for a domestic assault, to the 100 block of Oak Ridge Drive to assist KPD with a child custody dispute, and to the 100 block of Chase Street for a domestic disturbance.

July 10: Staff responded to River and Ottoman Ferry roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, to Jessie duPont Memorial Highway in the Kilmarnock area for a reckless driver, to the 5500 block of Irvington Road for suspicious activity, and to the 100 block of Harris Road for a malicious assault that occurred at the 400 block of Twin Branch Road.

Staff also conducted nine traffic stops, issued five summonses, assisted three motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, investigated four building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received 16 E911 hang up calls, and fielded four calls for animal control.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster, Kilmarnock and White Stone volunteer fire departments  responded to Suggets Point Road to assist Richmond County with a structure fire.

White Stone VFD and Kilmarnock VFD responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Windmill Point Road.

White Stone VFD resonded to a traffic crash on Shady Lane.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a tree on a powerline on River Road.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to a traffic crash on Jessie duPont Memorial Highway.
