Sheriff’s Report 10-17-24

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against eight individuals.

Felony

Clinton Robert Chewning, 61, of Weems was charged October 11 with revocation of suspension of sentence and probation on a felony offense for the underlying charge of manufacturing, selling a controlled substance; and misdemeanors use of profane, threatening language over public airways or by other methods, and stalking.

Misdemeanors

A White Stone man, 32, was charged October 4 with failure to appear in court on October 2.

A White Stone man, 58, was charged October 8 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

A Weems man, 20, was charged October 10 with failure to appear in court for trial on October 10.

A Kilmarnock woman, 37, was charged October 13 with driving a motor vehicle on a highway while license is suspended or revoked; expiration and renewal of state inspection, and expiration and renewal of state registration.

A Reedville woman, 25, was charged October 14 with two counts of assault and battery of a family or household member; appearing in public in an intoxicated condition; and disorderly conduct.

A Lancaster man, 33, was charged October 14 with two counts of assault and battery of a family or household member; appearing in public in an intoxicated condition; and disorderly conduct.

A Weems woman, 26, was charged October 14 with two counts of assault and battery of a family or household member; appearing in public in an intoxicated condition; and disorderly conduct.

Activity report

October 7: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Whisk roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 1400 block of Weems Road for a domestic assault, and to the 300 block of Wishing Well Lane for a domestic disturbance.

October 8: Staff responded to the 2000 block of Irvington Road for fraud, to the 1300 block of Old Salem Road for gunshots in the late afternoon hours, to the 300 block of Woods Drive for destruction of property, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for an unruly juvenile, to Washington Street for a noise complaint, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for harassment, and to the 10 block of Brent Court for destruction of property.

October 9: Staff responded to the 200 block of Bayview Drive for suspicious activity.

October 10: Staff responded to the 500 block of Mosquito Beach Lane for trespassing, to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for a wanted person, and to Merry Point Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

October 11: Staff responded to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for gunshots in the late evening hours, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a civil complaint, to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for a child welfare check, to the 1000 block of White Chapel Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 400 block of Twin Branch Road for an unruly juvenile.

October 12: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a noise complaint, to the 100 block of Old Bethel Road for a suspicious person, to the 1400 block of Shore Drive for a child custody dispute, to the 1300 block of Oak Hill Road for larceny, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a reckless driver, to the 80 block of Westview Lane for a suspicious person, to Ocran and Scott roads for an adult welfare check, and to the 600 block of Mary Ball Road for a disorderly customer.

October 13: Staff responded to the 5000 block of Windmill Point Road for a disabled vehicle, to the Norris Bridge for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to Greenwood Court for a domestic assault.

Staff also conducted 29 traffic stops, issued 20 summonses, assisted a motorist, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled a request for traffic control, investigated seven building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged three inmate transports, received 14 E911 hang up calls, and fielded seven calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at 132 Lancaster Drive.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to a deer strike at Mary Ball and Goodluck roads.
