Sheriff’s Report 11-18-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felony

Monta Devon Lee, 34, of Kilmarnock, was charged November 13 with failure to stop at the scene of an accident with property damage over $1,000, and reckless driving by exceeding a reasonable speed under existing circumstances and traffic conditions.

Misdemeanors

A White Stone woman, 29, was charged November 8 with contempt of court, failure to appear.

A Kilmarnock man, 31, was charged November 8 with failure to appear in court on a misdemeanor offense.

A White Stone man, 67, was charged November 11 with driving while intoxicated, BAC .15-.20%, and failure to drive on the right half of the highway.

Activity report

Nov. 8: Staff responded to the 5300 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash versus a utility pole, to the 100 block of School Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance involving a person with an altered mental status, to Rappahannock and Sandlin drives for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 2000 block of Ocran Road for a hunting violation, and to the 100 block of Harris Road for a combative individual with an altered mental status.

Nov. 9: Staff responded to the 900 block of Rappahannock Drive for a two-vehicle traffic crash on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge, to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for a juvenile behavior issue, to the 100 block of Riverwood Drive for a trespasser, to the 100 block of The Lane for a trailer parked in the roadway, and to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way for an assault.

Nov. 10: Staff responded to the 400 block of James Wharf Road for a possible suicidal person, and to Harris and Mary Ball roads for a vehicle operating in the dark without a headlight(s).

Nov. 11: Staff responded to the 1600 block of Slabtown Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 100 block of Primary School Circle for a suspicious person, and to the 300 block of Gaskins Road for a trespasser.

Nov. 12: Staff responded to the 100 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with a suspicious person, to the 100 block of Tilden Land to check the welfare of a resident, and to the 300 block of Windmill Point Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash with injuries.

Nov. 13: Staff responded to River and Western Branch roads for an intoxicated person walking in the roadway, to the 100 block of Primary School Circle for a suspicious vehicle, to the 100 block of British Landing Drive for a boater in distress, to the 100 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with an assault involving juveniles, to the Norris Bridge for a possible suicidal person, to Mary Ball Road and Whisk Drive for a vehicle fire, and to the 500 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a possible suicidal person.

Nov. 14: Staff responded to Windmill Point and Mosquito Point roads for suspicious activity, to the 900 block of Irvington Road for threats made to harm another, to the 100 block of Beach Creek Road to check the welfare of a resident, and to Lively to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with the search for a hit and run driver.

Staff also conducted 21 traffic stops, issued 13 summonses, assisted six motorists, recorded six deer strike accidents, handled 10 calls for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, processed three mental health orders, logged three inmate transports, received 17 E911 hang-up calls, and handled a call for animal control.

Fire Calls

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to separate traffic crashes on Rappahannock Drive and Windmill Point Road, a fuel spill on King Carter Drive, a fire/smoke alarm on Chesapeake Drive, a vehicle fire on Mary Ball Road and with Kilmarnock VFD to a structure fire on Painter Point Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to an electrical fire on Light Street and a propane smell on Chiltons Point Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 12 individuals.

Felonies

David G. Lewis of Hayes was charged November 4 with writing a felony bad check to R.R, Beasley, Inc. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office.

Jonathan Rydell Merrill, 33, of Reedville, was charged November 9 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for felony possession of a weapon by a felon, two counts of felony possession of transporting a weapon by a felon, grand larceny and unlawful wounding. It also charges him with malicious wounding, malicious wounding while throwing at a car and use of a firearm in a felony, first offense.

Malik Raquel Ball, 21, of Lancaster, was charged November 9 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for two counts of malicious wounding and one felony charge of malicious shooting at a car. He also is charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony, first offense.

Christopher O’Bier, 36, of Callao, was charged November 10 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for the original charge of destroying property valued at over $1,000, reckless driving and not reporting an accident with the damage being over $1,000.

Patrick Gile Morris, 59, of Callao, was charged November 12 with assault and battery of a police officer, assault and battery of a family member, obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct.

Trey Lamont Barber, 24, of Lottsburg, was charged November 13 on a capias to show cause issued by the Westmoreland County Circuit Court for a failing to appear on a felony charge of eluding the police.

Misdemeanors

A Bealeton woman, 60, was charged November 8 with assault and battery of a family member. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by the Culpepper County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathsville man, 22, was charged November 8 on a capias/attachment of the body issued from the Rockingham/Harrisonburg General District Court for a probation violation. The NCSO served the Capias.

A Reedville man, 44, was charged November 9 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear to answer interrogatories after signing a form to do so.

A Reedville woman, 19, was charged November 11 with threatening/illegal act over the telephone. This was a Lancaster County warrant served by NCSO.

A Leesburg woman, 31, was charged November 13 with driving under the influence, first offense and driving on a revoked license. She also was charged with reckless driving and obstruction of justice. A summons also was issued for refusal of the breath test.

A Lottsburg man, 24, was charged November 13 with a capias to show cause issued by the Westmoreland County Circuit Court for failing to appear on a misdemeanor offense.
