Sheriff’s Report 12-09-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against three individuals.

A Lancaster woman, 24, was charged December 2 with contempt of court: failure to appear.

A Weems man, 70, was charged December 1 with three counts of allowing animals to run at large, three counts of unlicensed dogs and two counts of failing to have dogs vaccinated for rabies.

Nov. 29: Staff responded to Mary Ball and White Chapel roads for a fight in progress, to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for a verbal disagreement, to Weems and Irvington roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a child sexual abuse, to the 1400 block of Belmont Road for attempts to obtain money by false pretenses, to the 100 block of Harris Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 500 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a person with an altered mental status.

Nov. 30: Staff responded to the 900 block of Irvington Road to assist Virginia State Police with service of a criminal warrant, to Chesapeake and Rappahannock drives for a reckless driver, to Mary Ball and Methodist Church roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, and to the 100 block of Paynes Creek Road for gunshots near a residence in the evening hours.

Dec. 1: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Pinckardsville roads for a truck driven into the ditch and blocking both lanes of travel.

Dec. 2: Staff responded to the 500 block of Devils Bottom Road for an intoxicated trespasser, to the 100 block of Harris Road for an aggravated assault, to the 18500 block of Mary Ball Road for a larceny, to the 5900 block of White Chapel Road for a suspicious vehicle, and to a report of a missing person from the 100 block of Oyster Way.

Dec. 3: Staff responded to the 1300 block of Shore Drive for a missing juvenile, the 8600 block of Mary Ball Road for a disorderly person, and to the 12900 block of River Road for suspicious activity.

Dec. 4: Staff responded to Chases and Popular Neck roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, to the 10800 block of River Road to assist emergency medical services with entry into a dwelling for a medical emergency, and to the 800 block of Nuttsville Road for a domestic disturbance and missing juvenile.

Dec. 5: Staff responded to Heron Lane for a trespasser, and to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for a trespasser.

Staff also conducted nine traffic stops, issued three summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled six calls for traffic control, investigated two building alarms, logged four inmate transports, received 15 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded six calls for animal control.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at Weems and Irvington roads, a brush fire on Chads Lane, and assisted in the search for a missing juvenile on Nuttsville Road.

Kilmarnock VFD responded to a lift assistance request on Jessie duPont Memorial highway, and with White Stone VFD to a smell of smoke on High Bank Road.

White Stone VFD also responded to a traffic crash on Mary Ball Road.
