Sheriff’s reports 01-05-23

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie reported charges against four individuals, for the week ending January 1.

Felony

Erik Keith Marlow, 33, of Lancaster was charged December 27 with probation violation on a felony offense.

Misdemeanors

A Weems woman, 61, was charged December 27 with appearing intoxicated in public.

A Hartfield man, 38, was charged December 29 with two counts of trespassing after being forbidden to do so.

A Mathews woman, 34, was charged January 1 with violating the conditions of release/pretrial and failing to appear for counsel determination.

Activity report

December 26: Staff responded to Irvington and Steamboat roads for an abandoned vehicle in the roadway, to the 100 block of Holly Haven Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 3900 block of Irvington Road for shots fired in the area in the evening hours, and to a walk-in report of threats made to harm another on social media.

December 27: Staff responded to the 200 block of Shore Drive for a wanted person, to Sunset and Waterview drives for a suicidal person, to the 600 block of North Main Street for a vehicle crash on private property, to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for a wanted person, to the 100 block of Landing Drive for a domestic disturbance, and to the 200 block of School Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a missing person.

December 28: Staff responded to the 600 block of Black Stump Road for a trespasser, to the 2000 block of Morattico Road for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, to Corrotoman Drive and Ridge Road for a camper parked in the roadway, and to the 400 block of South Main Street to assist KPD with a suspicious person.

December 29: Staff responded to Crab Point Road for an abandoned vehicle parked in the roadway, and to the 2300 block of Black Stump Road for a domestic disturbance.

December 30: Staff responded to the 100 block of Mantua Road for a civil issue involving a vehicle, to the 200 block of Old Fairgrounds Way to assist KPD with a shoplifter, to Jenkins Drive for shots fired, and to the 6700 block of Mary Ball Road for suspicious activity.

December 31: Staff responded to the 200 block of School Street to check the welfare of a resident, to the 500 block of Paynes Creek Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 100 block of Paynes Shop Road for an ATV being driven on the highway, and to the 100 block of British Landing Drive for a child custody dispute.

January 1: Staff responded to the 500 block of Woodbrook Drive for suspicious activity involving a possible intoxicated driver, to the 7500 block of River Road for a possible burglary, to a walk-in report of threats to harm another that occurred at the 200 block of Ocran Road, to James B. Jones Memorial Highway and Irvington Road for a suspicious person, and to the 500 block of Gaskins Road for a domestic disturbance and vandalism.

Staff also conducted 18 traffic stops, issued nine summonses, assisted three motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, investigated three building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received 20 E911 hang up calls, and fielded three calls for animal control services.

A White Stone man, 35, was charged December 19 with contempt of court: failure to appear.

A Lancaster man, 33, was charged December 20 with contempt of court: failure to appear.

A Lancaster woman, 39, was charged December 22 with appearing intoxicated in public.

A Lancaster woman, 49, was charged December 22 with driving while intoxicated, BAC of .20-.25%; and failure to notify DMV of a change of address on driver’s license.

December 19: Staff responded to the 100 block of Walden Drive for trespassing to hunt.

December 20: Staff responded to the 200 block of Old Fair Grounds Way to assist KPD with threats to harm another, to the 200 block of Shore Drive for a wanted person, to the 1300 block of Old Salem Road for a person making suicidal threats, and to the 8600 block of Mary Ball Road for a juvenile behavior issue.

December 21: Staff responded to the 10100 block of Courthouse Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 300 block of Woods Drive for a civil issue, to the 200 block of Greenvale Creek Road for a sudden death, to the 1900 block of Lara Road for a hunting violation, and to South Main Street and Tartan Village Drive to assist KPD with a large amount of debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

December 22: Staff responded to the 900 block of Christ Church Road for a verbal disagreement, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled vehicle causing a traffic hazard, to Lara Road and Mohans Run for an abandoned vehicle, and to the 9700 block of Mary Ball Road for an intoxicated driver.

December 23: Staff responded to Woods Drive for downed trees in the roadway, to numerous reports of trees down in roadways: weather related, to Christ Church and Gaskins roads for power lines down in the roadway, to the 100 block of Ivey Creek Road for the report of power lines and trees blocking the roadway, to Rappahannock Drive for a reckless driver, to the 5800 block of Rivers Landing Court for damage to a vehicle from debris on the Norris Bridge, to the 4600 block of Windmill Point Road to check the welfare of the residents, and to the 5200 block of Mary Ball Road for a possible intoxicated pedestrian.

December 24: Staff responded to Nuttsville and Morattico roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Browns Store Road to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with an assault, and to the 5100 block of Mary Ball Road for a large residential water leak.

December 25: Staff responded to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for a disorderly person, to the 1300 block of Old Salem Road for suspicious activity and to check the welfare of the resident, and to the 200 block of Rio Vista for stalking.

Staff also conducted 12 traffic stops, issued two summonses, assisted four motorists, recorded four deer strike accidents, handled a call for traffic control, investigated eight building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received 23 E911 hang up calls, and fielded five calls for animal control services.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to traffic control for debris cleanup on South Main Street, downed tree on a residence on Dogwood Lane, downed tree on a power line on Lawrence Cove Lane, house generator fire on Balls Neck Road, vehicle fire on Mary Ball Road, with White Stone VFD to smoke showing from a commercial building on Old Fairgrounds Way, and with White Stone VFD to a vehicle fire on School Street.

White Stone VFD also responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Old Salem Road, downed trees on Woods Drive, and a room ceiling collapse on King Carter Drive.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a field fire on Mount Olive Road, a traffic crash at Morattico and Nuttsville roads, and a fire/smoke alarm on Courthouse Road.
