Sheriffs’ Reports 03-04-21

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against five individuals.

Felonies

Jonte Artyne Towles, 25, of Reedville was charged February 26 with conspiracy to commit first degree murder and abduction by force or intimidation.

Kemonte Dashaune Smith, 20, of Lancaster was charged February 26 with conspiracy to commit first degree murder and abduction by force or intimidation.

Michael Anderson Crockett Jr., 36, of Lancaster was charged February 25 with driving while revoked (DUI related) after having been convicted of the same offense two or more times within 10 years, and reckless driving, speed in excess of 85 mph.

Misdemeanors

A Kilmarnock man, 43, was charged February 25 with probation violation.

A Heathsville man was charged February 27 with assault and battery of a family member.

Activity Report

February 22: Staff responded to Devils Bottom and Mary Ball roads for a disabled vehicle in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

February 23: Staff responded to Cypress Lane for a wrecked and abandoned vehicle, to the 800 block of Nuttsville Road for a property use issue, to the 300 block of Old Orchard Drive to check the welfare of the resident, to the 500 block of Lara Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 800 block of Nuttsville Road for a trespasser.

February 24: Staff responded to White Chapel Road for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to a walk-in report of Social Security fraud, and to the 5300 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

February 25: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled truck causing a traffic hazard, to the 400 block of Old Salem Road for trespassers, and to the 10300 block of River Road to check the welfare of a resident.

February 26: Staff responded to the 1200 block of Browns Lane to check the welfare of the residents, to the 300 block of McSwain Road for a minor two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Fleets Bay Road, and to the 1800 block of Weems Road for the burglary of a residence and larceny of construction tools.

February 27: Staff responded to the Norris Bridge for a reckless driver who ran a vehicle off the road, to the 400 block of Rappahannock Drive for a verbal disagreement, to the 11000 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for shoplifting, and to the 1600 block of Morattico Road to assist the fire department with traffic control.

February 28: Staff responded to the 100 block Hidden Cove Drive to assist with the disposition of a handgun.

Staff also conducted 51 traffic stops, issued 50 summonses, assisted two motorists, handled four calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, logged two inmate transports, and received 27 E911 hang-up calls.

Fire calls

The Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash on Mary Ball Road and with Kilmarnock VFD to a vehicle fire on Thomas Landing Road and to a structure fire on Morattico Road.

The Kilmarnock VFD also assisted emergency management services (EMS) with a call on Mount Olive Road.

The White Stone VFD assisted EMS with a call on Sunset Drive.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against eight individuals.

Felonies

Gary Allen Germain Jr., 21, of Lancaster County, was charged February 20 on a capias to show cause issued from the Northumberland County Circuit Court for a probation violation with the original charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. This was served by the Virginia State Police.

Kevin Wayne Thompson, 43, of Callao was charged February 22 with unauthorized use of a vehicle valued at more than $1,000.

Kiwana Yiesha Garcia, 50, of Heathsville was charged February 22 with a direct indictment issued from the Northumberland County Circuit Court for feloniously, while receiving public assistance, knowingly fail to report a change in circumstances.

Charles Ray Rich, 65, of Heathsville was charged February 25 with breaking and entering and petit larceny, third-plus offense.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster County man, 37, was charged February 21 on a capias/attachment of the body issued from the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to obey a court order. This was served by the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathsville woman, 50, was charged February 22 with three counts of bad checks written to Tri-Star Supermarket in Kilmarnock. These were Lancaster County warrants, served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Germantown, Md., man, 50, was charged February 25 with driving under the influence of alcohol.

A Fredericksburg woman, 35, was charged March 1 with driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.
