SHERIFFS’ REPORTS 05-02-24

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felonies

Maurice Channin Veney, 33, of Lancaster was charged April 22 with two counts of revocation of suspension of sentence and probation on felony offenses. This was an Essex County warrant.

Nathan Cornelius Crockett, 28, of Hallieford was charged April 26 with threats to bomb or damage buildings or means of transportation. This was a Gloucester County warrant.

Misdemeanors

A Kingsville, Md. man, 70, was charged April 23 for failure to appear in the Lancaster County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on November 21, 2023.

A Lancaster man, 28, was charged April 25 with violating provisions of a protective order. This was a Gloucester County warrant.

A Lancaster woman, 41, was charged April 25 with violating provisions of a protective order. This was an Albermarle County warrant.

A Hayes woman, 60, was charged April 26 with failure to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court.

A Lancaster man, 19, was charged April 28 with reckless handling of a firearm and pointing, holding or brandishing a firearm.

Activity report

April 22: Staff responded to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for a wanted person, to the 1000 block of Ottoman Ferry Road for larceny, and to Mary Ball and White Chapel roads for a missing adult, subject was safely located.

April 23: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for identity theft, to the 11000 block of Courthouse Road for a domestic assault, to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads for a reckless driver, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for a domestic assault, and to the 1000 block of Alfonso Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

April 24: Staff responded to Shore Drive for a disabled vehicle, and to the 200 block of Old Fair Grounds Way for a suspicious person.

April 25: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for threats, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the highway, and to Mary Ball and Regina roads for a disabled vehicle.

April 26: Staff responded to Harris and Mary Ball roads for a disabled vehicle, and to the 100 block of Morattico Road for legal advice.

April 27: Staff responded to Twin Branch Road for gunshots in the late evening hours, to the 100 block of Moccasin Road for a larceny, to Merry Point and Mary Ball roads to assist Virginia State Police with a traffic stop, to the 100 block of Morattico Road for a larceny, and to the 3000 block of Weems Road for a domestic disturbance.

April 28: Staff responded to the 10 block of Brent Court for destruction of property, to Mary Ball and Regina roads for shooting at a motor vehicle, to the 400 block of Greentown Road for trespassing, and to the 2000 block of Lara Road for a neighbor dispute.

April 29: Staff responded to the 100 block of Morattico Road for legal advice.

Staff also conducted 18 traffic stops, issued 19 summonses, recorded a deer strike accident, investigated three building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports and received four E911 hang up calls.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a propane leak at 101 Harris Road, a brush fire at 165 Inlet Cove and with White Stone VFD to a residential fire at 14 Orapax Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felonies

Alicia Renee Schmidt, 40, of Heathsville was charged April 23 with felony malicious wounding.

Brandi N. McGehee, 34, of Newtown was charged April 28 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court on two counts of violating her probation on felony offenses. She was served by the Middle River Regional Jail.

Misdemeanors

A Callao man, 42, was charged April 24 on two capias/attachments of the body issued by the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to pay child support and failing to appear in court.

A Hayes woman, 60, was charged April 26 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court on an original charge of obscene language over the phone. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office served the paper.

A Warsaw woman, 30, was charged April 26 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court on an original charge of petit larceny.

A Heathsville man, 50, was charged April 27 with assault and battery.

A Newport News man, 28, was charged April 29 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear on an original charge of criminal trespassing.
