Sheriffs’ Reports 06-29-23

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against 10 individuals.

A Warsaw man, 35, was charged June 19 with failure to appear on a civil support case.

A Weems man, 59, was charged June 20 with failure to appear in court.

A Richmond man, 21, was charged June 21 with driving a motor vehicle on a highway after the accused’s driver’s license has been suspended or revoked, and reckless driving by driving a vehicle on the highway that had inadequate or improperly adjusted brakes.

A Lancaster man, 32, was charged June 21 with assault and battery of a family or household member.

A Heathsville woman, 41, was charged June 22 with failure to appear in court.

A Kilmarnock man, 33, was charged June 22 with failure to appear in court on a seventh offense of driving suspended.

A Weems man, 57, was charged June 22 with assault and battery of a family or household member.

A White Stone man, 34, was charged June 24 with failure to appear in court on a driving suspended offense.

A Lancaster woman, 79, was charged June 24 with driving while under the influence of alcohol, and reckless driving by driving a vehicle that was not under proper control on the highway.

A Weems man, 34, was charged June 25 with trespassing after being forbidden to do so.

Activity report

June 19: Staff responded to the 100 block of Pond Park Road for shooting into a residential dwelling, to the 200 block of Twin Branch Road for a verbal dispute involving alcohol, to the 1100 block of Remo Road to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a suicidal person, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for shots fired into a vehicle, to the 700 block of Christ Church Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 100 block of Methodist Church Road for a stolen grill, to the 900 block of Ivey Creek Road for items stolen out of moving boxes, and to the 1000 block of Laurel Point Road for a domestic disturbance.

June 20: Staff responded to the 1600 block of Chownings Ferry Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 1000 block of White Chapel Road for an overdose of over-the-counter medication, to the 300 block of North Main Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a trespasser, and to West Point Road for a downed tree in the roadway.

June 21: Staff responded to the 400 block of King Carter Drive for a trespasser, to the 5600 block of White Chapel Road for a downed tree blocking the roadway, to a walk-in report of check forgery/fraud that occurred at the 400 block of Kenmore Avenue, to Coxs Farm Road for illegally dumping trash, to the 100 block of Town Centre Drive to assist KPD with a trespasser, to the 3700 block of Mary Ball Road for a single overturned vehicle traffic crash, to the 4800 block of White Chapel Road for a domestic assault, to Carlson and Crawfords Corner roads for a downed tree in the roadway, to the 100 block of Kingfisher Circle for a verbal dispute involving alcohol, to the 3100 block of Morattico Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash versus a tree, and to the 7000 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious vehicle.

June 22: Staff responded to the 200 block of Flats Lane to assist emergency medical services with entry into a residence for a medical emergency, to a walk-in report of threats made to harm another that occurred at the 100 block of Moccasin Trail, to the 400 block of Chesapeake Drive for a two-vehicle minor traffic crash that occurred on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge, to the 300 block of Avonne Street for a wanted person, and to the 100 block of Grand Villa Drive for a domestic assault.

June 23: Staff responded to a walk-in report of stalking that occurred at the 100 block of Doggett Lane, to Lara Road and Mohans Run for a downed tree blocking the roadway, to the 900 block of Corrotoman Drive for suspicious activity, to the 100 block of Grand Villa Drive for a civil issue, and to the 100 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with a suicidal person.

June 24: Staff responded to the 400 block of Wilson Lane for a possible domestic disturbance, to Taylors Creek Road and Faith Circle for a single-vehicle traffic crash that resulted in a fatality, to Devils Bottom and Laurel Point roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 100 block of Roseneath Avenue to assist KPD with a verbal dispute.

June 25: Staff responded to the 8200 block of Mary Ball Road for a disorderly person.

Staff also conducted 32 traffic stops, issued 17 summonses, assisted seven motorists, investigated two building alarms, processed two mental health orders, logged two inmate transports, received 29 E911 hang up calls, and fielded five calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a utility pole fire on Windmill Point Road, a downed tree in the roadway on Scott Road, an electrical fire on Blue Heron Lane, and with Kilmarnock VFD to a utility pole fire on Waddy Drive.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a utility pole fire on Fox Hill Drive, a possible carbon monoxide poisoning on Natty Cove Lane and separate traffic crashes on Taylors Creek Road and Devils Bottom Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to separate traffic crashes on Mary Ball Road and Morattico Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 11 individuals.

Felonies

Ethan Lo, 21, of Lottsburg was charged June 9 with rape by force or intimidation.

Kenneth Rodd Kidwel, 78, no address given, was charged June 9 on a direct indictment issued by the Northumberland County Multi-Jurisdictional Grand Jury with two felony counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Deonte Bell, 37, of Warsaw was charged June 18 with assault and battery of a police officer and obstruction of justice.

Joseph Keith Jett, 59, of Lottsburg was charged June 20 with threatening to burn or bomb a place of assembly.

Jonathan Bruce Mahan, 41, of Farnham was charged June 23 on a failure to appear warrant issued by the Northumberland County General District Court on an original charged of failing to perform construction with an advance of $1,000 or more.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville man, 74, was charged June 7 with reckless handling of a firearm.

A Kinsale woman, 72, was charged June 16 with two counts of criminal trespassing and one count of failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court on an original charge of driving suspended. These were Northumberland County warrants served by the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathsville man, 52, was charged June 20 with abuse of calling an officer on the phone without just cause and being drunk in public.

A Farnham man, 21, was charged June 24 with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense and driving without a license.

A St. Stephens Church woman, 18, was charged June 25 with assault and battery.

A Charlottesville man, 41, was charged June 25 with assault and battery of a family member and being drunk in public.
