Sheriffs’ Reports 07-07-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against one individual.

Felony

Jason Porter Harsh, 44, of Merry Point was charged July 1 with a probation violation on a felony offense and a community diversion violation on a felony offense.

Activity report

June 27: Staff responded to the 17400 block of Mary Ball Road to assist Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office with an investigation of a hit and run traffic crash, to the 100 block of Brightwaters Drive for trespassers, and to the 100 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

June 28: Staff responded to the 100 block of Fox Hill Drive to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Brent Court for the report of a burglary and vandalism of kitchen appliances, to the 100 block of Entertainment Drive for a larceny, to a walk-in report of the sexual assault of a juvenile, and to the 400 block of Sullavans Road for a domestic disturbance.

June 29: Staff responded to Mary Ball Road in White Stone for a reckless driver, to the 400 block of North Main Street to assist KPD with a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 200 block of Ocran Road for a missing person, and to Shore Drive for a noise violation from loud music.

June 30: Staff responded to the 100 block of Windjammer Lane for trespassers, to Mary Ball and James Wharf roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Morattico Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard, to the 100 block of Claybrooke Avenue to assist KPD with a prowler, and to the 100 block of Old Bethel Road for suspicious activity.

July1: Staff responded to the 800 block of Rappahannock Drive for a larceny, to Windmill Point Road for suspicious activity, to the 8300 block of Mary Ball Road for an intoxicated pedestrian, and to the 1400 block of Shore Drive for a wanted person.

July 2: Staff responded to Kamps Mill Road for an explosion, to the 5900 block of White Chapel Road for the report of an illegal tracking device; responded to the 600 block of Black Stump Road for a trespasser, to the 2700 block of Morattico Road to check the welfare of a resident, to the 7300 block of River Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the Norris Bridge for a disabled vehicle blocking one lane of traffic, and to the 3100 block of White Chapel Road for a reckless driver.

June 3: Staff responded to the 100 block of Harris Road for an individual with an altered mental status, to the 200 block of James Cove Landing to check the welfare of a resident after being alerted by a family member, to the 100 block of Clark Lane for a sudden death, to the 300 block of Bald Eagle Drive for unlicensed dirt bike drivers on the public roadway, to the 1300 block of Merry Point Road for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, to the 100 block of Lancaster Road for a parking violation, to the 1400 block of Laurel Point Road for fireworks displayed without a permit, to the 1000 block of White Chapel Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, and to the 1300 block of Merry Point Road for a domestic disturbance, second response.

Staff also conducted 34 traffic stops, issued 21 summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, assisted a motorist, investigated five building alarms, received 13 E911 hang up calls, and fielded a call for animal control.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to separate traffic crashes on Mary Ball Road and White chapel Road; separate lift assistance requests on first street and Buzzards Neck Road, a brush fire at Bewdley and Wilmore roads and established a landing zone for emergency medical services on Hunton Lane.

White Stone VFD responded to a traffic crash at Mary Ball and James Wharf roads.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 20 individuals.

Felonies

Jonte Artyne Towles, 26, of Lancaster was charged June 12 with possession of a firearm by a non-violent felon. He also wascharged with four counts of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, three counts of attempted malicious shootings and shooting into an occupied building.

Derrick O’Neal Wood Jr., 26, of Spotsylvania was charged June 14 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to appear on a felony charge.

Thomas William Newton, 53, of Reedville was charged June 24 with two counts of possession of a Schedule I/II drug, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. He also was charged with child abuse/neglect and destroying a telephone to prevent calling for help. Further charges were brandishing a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm and damaging property.

Michael Scott Kappel, 55, of Heathsvllle was charged June 28 with obtaining money by false pretenses, grand larceny and failing to perform construction after an advance was given. He also was charged with practicing a profession without a license.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville man, 32, was charged June 1 with two counts of reckless driving.

A Weems man, 24, was charged June 2 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear.

A Heathsville man, 28, was charged June 5 with assault and battery.

A Heathsville woman, 27, was charged June 8 with assault and battery.

A Reedville man, 29, was charged June 13 with four counts of animal cruelty, five counts of failing to vaccinate and five counts of no tags/licenses for his animals.

A Reedville woman, 26, was charged June 13 with one count of animal cruelty.

An East Islip, N.Y., man, 39, was charged June 16 with trespassing and being drunk in public.

A Reedville man, 39, was charged June 16 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to appear after signing a form for his arraignment.

A Reedville man, 50, was charged June 19 with being drunk in public,

A Reedville man, 45, was charged June 19 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Burgess man, 23, was charged June 21 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for violating his pre-trial conditions. He was served by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

A Bumpass man, 37, was charged June 23 on a capias/attachment of the body for failing to appear in the Surry County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

A Callao woman, 18, was charged June 27 with one count of assault and battery of a family member. She also was charged on a King George warrant for assault and battery of a family member.

A Reedville man, 44, was charged June 27 with violation of a protective order.

A Heathsvllle man, 49, was charged June 28 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Colonial Beach man, 46, was charged June 30 with obtaining money by false pretenses. This was a Northumberland County warrant and served by the King George County Sheriff’s Office.
