Sheriffs’ Reports

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felony

Deavion Jamar Newbill, 19, of Lancaster, was charged September 25 with knowingly communicating in writing a threat to kill or do bodily injury which placed such person in reasonable apprehension of death and bodily injury.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster man, 23, was charged September 26 with a violation of the Virginia Safety Action Program for the underlying charge of driving under the influence, first offense.

A Lancaster man, 33, was charged September 27 with failure to appear in court for arraignment on September 25.

A Kilmarnock woman, 30, was charged September 28 with assault and battery of a family or household member and appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.

Activity report

September 23: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for threats, and to the 70 block of Meadowlark Lane for a neighbor dispute.

September 24: Staff responded to the 200 block of Griffins Landing Road for a downed tree, to the 900 block of Ocran Road for a scam, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a larceny, to the 300 block of Johns Neck Road for a civil complaint, to the 200 block of Methodist Church Road for a child welfare check, and to Shore and Lancaster Creek drives for a noise complaint.

September 25: Staff responded to River Road for a downed tree, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to Iberis Road for a traffic hazard, and to the 70 block of Wesley Terrace for a verbal dispute.

September 26: Staff responded to the 600 block of Baywater Drive for a larceny, and to the 10 block of Brent Court for destruction of property.

September 27: Staff responded to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a suspicious person, to the 700 block of Christ Church Road for down power lines, to Irvington Farm Road for illegal dumping, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for fraud, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a civil complaint, to the 1800 block of Irvington Road for a road hazard, to Harris and Chases roads for high water across, to the 4000 block of Irvington Road for a suspicious person, to Windmill Point Road for high water, and to Carlson Road for a downed tree.

September 28: Staff responded to the 5000 block of White Chapel Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to Weems and Lumberlost roads for  a downed tree, to Coxs Farm Road for a downed tree, to Chinnis Lane for a suspicious vehicle, to James B. Jones Memorial Highway for a disabled vehicle, and to the 400 block of South Main Street for a suspicious vehicle.

September 29: Staff responded to Kamps Mill Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 200 block of Bayview Drive for threats, and to Washington Street for a traffic complaint.

Staff also conducted 25 traffic stops, issued 14 summonses, assisted a motorist, recorded a deer strike accident, handled a request for traffic control, investigated five building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received two E911 hang up calls, and fielded three calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle crash at 10943 Jessie duPont Memorial Highway and a structure fire at 16633 Northumberland Highway.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a utility pole/line fire at 19 Brent Court, a lawn mower fire at 873 Senora Road and a vehicle crash at 5940 White Chapel Road.

White Stone VFD responded to down power lines at 704 Christ Church Road.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against 12 individuals.

Felonies

Morson J. Lee Jr., 63, no address given, was charged September 16 with two felony counts of obtaining monies by false pretenses, operating without a contractor’s license and two counts of failing to perform construction. These were Northumberland County warrants served by the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

Cassandra Tate, 45, of Montross was charged September 17 on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for violating her probation on original charges of embezzlement.

Chasity Ann Crockett, 40, of Colonial Beach was charged September 25, on a capias to show cause issued by the Northumberland County Circuit Court for a parole violation on the original charge of possession of a controlled substance. She was served by the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

Misdemeanors

A Lottsburg woman, 38, was charged September 12 with assault and battery.

A Lancaster man, 33, was charged September 16 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to obey a court order by not being compliant and having interlock violations.

A Reedville woman, 38, was charged September 18 with three counts of shoplifting from Walmart in Lancaster County. These were Lancaster County warrants served by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).

A Heathsville man, 61, was charged September 18 on a Lancaster County warrant for shoplifting from the Walmart. He was served by the NCSO.

A Heathsville man, 44, was charged September 19 with stalking.

A Callao woman, 48, was charged September 20 with criminal trespassing.

A Callao woman, 23, was charged September 23 with petit larceny from Los Portales in Burgess.

A St. Stephens Church woman, 20, was charged (no date given) with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to obey a court order. She was served by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

A Heathsville woman, 35, was charged September 26 on a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Lancaster County General District Court for failing to appear on charges of driving suspended, second offense. She was served by the NCSO.
