Sheriffs’ Reports 10-08-20

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against seven individuals.

A Lancaster woman, 57, was charged September 28 with destruction of property.

A Lancaster man, 25, was charged September 28 with use of profane/threatening language via phone/text.

A White Stone woman, 65, was charged September 28 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Lancaster woman, 21, was charged September 29 with issuing a worthless check.

A Lottsburg woman, 36, was charged September 29, with three counts of issuing a worthless check.

A Lancaster man, 47, was charged September 30 with issuing a worthless check.

A Lancaster man, 24, was charged October 3 with possession of marijuana.

Activity report

Sept. 28: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a reckless driver, to Irvington and White Fences roads to assist Virginia State Police with the search of a vehicle, and to the Norris Bridge for a vehicle blocking traffic.

Sept. 29: Staff responded to the 100 block of Marina Road for threats made to harm another, and to the 1100 block of Black Stump Road to check the welfare of a motorist after being alerted by a passerby.

Sept. 30: Staff responded to the 400 block of Wilson Lane for suspicious activity, to Irvington Road and South Main Street to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a two-vehicle traffic crash, to several weather related requests for service because of flooding and trees down in the roadway.

Oct. 1: Staff responded to the 8600 block of Mary Ball Road for a reported financial exploitation of an elderly person, to the 100 block of Rose Drive for a domestic assault involving alcohol, to Mary Ball and White Chapel roads for a minor two-vehicle traffic crash, and to Browns Stone to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with the report of suspicious activity involving weapons.

Oct. 2: Staff responded to the 200 block of Shady Lane to check the welfare of a resident after the report of no contact.

Oct. 3: Staff responded to the 100 block of Waverly Avenue to assist KPD with a child on a bicycle struck by a vehicle resulting in serious injuries, to Bertrand Place for trespassers, to the 100 block of Chestnut Grove Lane for suspicious activity, and to the 400 block of Mohans Run for gunshots.

Oct. 4: Staff responded to Browns Store Road to assist NCSO with the search of a hit and run vehicle, and to Bertrand Place for trespassers.

Staff also conducted 16 traffic stops, issued 10 summonses, assisted five motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled a call for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged three inmate transport, received 27 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Taylors Creek Road.

The Kilmarnock VFD responded to a power line fire on Waverly Avenue, a traffic crash on Main Street and Irvington Road and a traffic crash on North Main Street.

The White Stone VFD and Kilmarnock VFD responded to a kitchen fire on North Main Street.

Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felony

Joshua Ashburn, 34, of Burgess on October 2 was served a warrant of extradition from the state of Texas for felony assault of a family member. He will be extradited to Texas.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville man, 21, was charged September 23 on a capias to show cause from the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to comply with his pre-trial supervision by failing to report for his drug testing.

A Callao man, 22, was charged September 25 on a capias to show cause from the Northumberland County Circuit Court for failing to comply with pre-trial supervision by receiving a new charge of violating a protective order.

A Lottsburg man, 53, was charged September 28 with criminal trespassing, after being forbidden to do so.

A Heathsville man, 56, was charged October 3 with possessing alcohol after being interdicted. He was also charged with being drunk in public.

A Heathsville man, 62, was charged October 4 with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense. He also was charged with reckless driving, damaging a Dominion Power electric pole and hit and run.

A Heathsville man, 59, was charged October 5 with damaging property.
