Sheriffs’ Reports 12-01-22

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against five individuals.

Felonies

Nickolas Van-Jor Chinn, 22, of Wicomico Church was charged November 22 with a probation violation on a felony offense, probation violation on a misdemeanor offense and violating community diversion program on a felony offense.

Michael Dunaway, 62, of Lancaster was charged November 27 with strangulation resulting in a bodily injury, threats to bomb/burn a place of assembly, building or other structure and assault and battery of a family member.

Ashley Monique Ball, 32, Lancaster was charged November 28 with assault and battery of a law enforcement officer engaged in their public duties, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster man, 59, was charged November 22 with contempt of court: failure to appear.

A Hague man, 59, was charged November 23 with appearing intoxicated in public.

Activity report

November 21: Staff responded to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 300 block of James B. Jones Memorial Highway for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Clover Lane for a wanted person, and to the 600 block of Beach Road for a missing adult female.

November 22: Staff responded to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for a two-vehicle crash on private property, to Mary Ball Road in the Lancaster area for a reckless driver, to Cherry Hill Road for gunshots, to the 1300 block of Old Salem Road for a person with an altered mental status, and to the 100 block of Sandlin Drive to assist Social Services with a visit to inspect conditions of the residence.

November 23: Staff responded to the 1200 block of Ocran Road for a noise violation from loud music, to the 8200 block of Mary Ball Road for an intoxicated person in public, and to the 600 block of Boys Camp Road for suspicious activity.

November 24: Staff responded to the 3000 block of Merry Point Road for suspicious activity, to Mary Ball Road in the White Stone area for a reckless driver, to Kamps Mill and Mary Ball roads to assist Virginia State Police with a traffic stop, and to the 400 block of Rappahannock Drive for an open door on a commercial building after business hours.

November 25: Staff responded to the 200 block of Irvington Road for a juvenile behavior issue, to the 100 block of Hickory Road for a possible suicidal person, to a walk-in report of funds obtained by false pretense, to Windmill Point and Mosquito Point roads for vandalism of a field by a vehicle, and to the 100 block of Robinson Road for a verbal disagreement.

November 26: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the roadway; to a walk-in report of an assault that occurred at the 100 block of Bobwhite Lane, to the 100 block of Cherry Point Drive for a sudden death, to Jessie duPont Memorial Highway and Goodluck Road for a two-vehicle hit and run traffic crash, and to the 2000 block of Black Stump Road for a sudden death.

November 27: Staff responded to the 2800 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a possible suicidal person, to the 100 block of Ottoman Ferry Road for a domestic assault, and to the 100 block of Reynolds Farm Road for a suicidal person and domestic assault.

Staff also conducted 23 traffic stops, issued 17 summonses, assisted nine motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled five calls for traffic control, investigated three building alarms, logged three inmate transports, received 13 E911 hang up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a traffic crash at Harris and Irvington roads and with White Stone VFD to a structure fire on School Street.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a structure fire on Chestnut Point Road.
