Sheriffs’ Reports 10-18-18

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against five individuals.

Felonies

Kevin W. Stevens, 28, of Callao was charged October 10 with felony conspiracy to commit embezzlement.

Jessica L. Gordon, 29 of Callao was charged October 10 with felony embezzlement and conspiracy to commit embezzlement.

Misdemeanors

A Weems Road man, 46, was charged October 8 with domestic assault.

A Weems Road woman, 53, was charged October 8 with domestic assault.

A Beach Road man, 50, was charged October 13 with appearing intoxicated in public.

Activity report

October 8: Staff responded to the 1900 block of Irvington Road to assist with an intoxicated person with medical issues, to the 300 block of Weems Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Old Fair Grounds Way for a suspicious person, to the 8800 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash with property damage, to the 200 block of Burnt Wharf Road for an unattended death, to Devils Bottom Road for an overturned vehicle, and to the 10000 block of River Road for a juvenile with emotional issues.

October 9: Staff responded to Mary Ball Road and Harris Drive for a two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, and to the 3200 block of Irvington Road for a domestic assault with injuries.

October 10: Staff responded to the 200 block of Beach Road for threats to harm others, to the 2000 block of Morattico Road for an assault with a weapon, and to the 100 block of New South Road for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol and an illegal firearm.

October 11: Staff responded to the area of Morattico Road for a possible wanted person, to the 400 block of Buzzards Neck Road for vandalism, and to the 5300 block of Mary Ball Road for a stolen license plate.

October 12: Staff responded to the 4200 block of Mary Ball Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for a traffic crash, to the 10400 block of Courthouse Road for a burglary, to Mary Ball Road near White Stone for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to Reynolds Farm Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash.

October 13: Staff responded to East Church Street for a possible burglary in progress, to the 200 block of Beach Road for an intoxicated person who threatened to harm themselves and others, to the 1200 block of Kelley Neck Road to check the welfare of an elderly person after being alerted by a family member, to a walk-in report of a domestic issue, to the 2100 block of Morattico Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 9800 block of Mary Ball Road for loud music in violation of ordinance, and to the 2000 block of Morattico Road for shots fired in the area.

October 14: Staff responded to the 1700 block of Morattico Road for a trespasser, to the 400 block of Greentown Road for a fight in progress involving a weapon, and to the 600 block of Beach Road for a domestic disturbance.

Staff also conducted 11 traffic stops, issued five summonses, assisted four motorists, fielded four calls for traffic control, investigated 10 building alarms, processed two mental health orders, logged four inmate transports, received 10 E911 hang-up calls, and fielded one call for animal control.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a transformer fire on Redwood Lane; a lift assistance request on Foxhill Drive; fire/smoke alarms on Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, North Main Street and Club Drive; a power line down on Devils Bottom Road; a propane leak on Fleets Bay Road; trees on power lines on Mount Olive Road, South Drive and Fleets Bay Road; a structure fire on Mila Road; and with the White Stone VFD to a structure fire on East Church Street and an unknown fire on Close Quarters Drive.

The Kilmarnock VFD also responded to traffic crashes on Devils Bottom Road, Harris Drive and Mary Ball Road, Jessie duPont Memorial Highway and Bluff Point Road.

The White Stone VFD also responded to a tree on a house on Virginia Road.

The Upper Lancaster VFD responded to power lines down on Mary Ball Road, a transformer fire on Riverside Drive, traffic crashes on White Chapel Road and Lara Road, a lift assistance request on Gill Road, and a tree on a power line on Bertrand Place.

EMS calls

For October 7-13, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 57 calls for service including 24 medical emergencies, three injuries, five traffic accidents, nine fires and 16 other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against 11 individuals.

Felonies

Christopher Lynn Goins Jr., 29, of Mollusk was charged October 4 with the following felonies: driving a vehicle in a willful and wanton disregard for law enforcement, possession with intent to distribute a half-ounce, but less than five pounds of marijuana and possession of a Schedule I or II drug. He also was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving suspended and having a concealed weapon. A summons also was issued for defective equipment.

Barlow Kenway Crosby, 46, of Kilmarnock was served a warrant of extradition October 4 from the state of North Carolina for a charge of breaking and entering. He also was charged with a capias/attachment of the body for failing to report to his probation officer.

Kinte Rashawn Veney, 41, of Weems was charged October 11 with felony destruction of property and conspiracy to destroy property. He was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of destroying a vehicle, and damaging property.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville woman, 57, was issued two summons September 29 for failing to vaccinate an animal and two summons for failing to obtain tags for those animals.

A Weems man, 27, was charged September 29 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court for charges of driving suspended, 3rd offense, and fictitious license plates. He was arrested by the Virginia State Police.

A Heathsville man, 25, was charged October 2 with obstruction of justice and being drunk in public.

A Lottsburg man, 67, was charged October 2 with driving under the influence of alcohol, 2nd offense within 5 years and a summons was also issued for following too close.

A Mollusk man, 29, was charged October 4 with a Capias/Attachment of the Body for failing to appear in the Westmoreland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

A Locust Hill man, 55, was charged October 10 with driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to drive in the right lane.

A Reedville man, 50, was charged October 13 with two capias to show cause from Middlesex County Circuit Court. He was also charged with driving suspended, third offense, in Northumberland County.

A Farnham man, 35, was charged October 14 with driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to drive in the right lane.

Fire calls

For October 8-15, the Callao VFD responded to eight calls, including three alarms, three storm-related calls, one wire down and one other call.

The Fairfields VFD responded to 21 calls, including one alarm, 11 storm-related calls, two wires down, two medical calls, three motor vehicle crashes, one fire and one other call.

EMS calls

For October 8-15, the Northumberland County Emergency Services, Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Northumberland County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to 29 calls, including 18 medical calls, seven falls/traumatic injuries, three motor vehicle crashes and one other call.
