Sheriffs’ Reports 5-16-19

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against eight individuals.

Felony

Willam David Rogers, 49, of Weems was charged May 7 with assault; malicious, victim severely injured.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster woman, 55, was charged May 7 with assault and battery of a family member.

A Lancaster man, 26, was charged May 8 with failure to comply with a court-ordered probation.

A Weems woman, 47, was charged May 8 with failure to comply with a court-ordered probation.

A Lancaster woman, 33, was charged May 8 with violating a protective order.

A White Stone woman, 41, was charged May 10 with failure to appear in court for arraignment on an underlying charge.

A Lancaster man, 20, was charged May 11 for brandishing a machete or bladed weapon and assault and battery of a family member.

A Lancaster woman, 48, was charged May 11 with assault and battery.

Activity report

May 6: Staff responded to the 100 block of Rappahannock Road for trespassers and underaged drinking, to the 100 block of Harris Road to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a disorderly person, and to Irvington and Weems roads for a suspicious vehicle.

May 7: Staff responded to the 2300 block of River Road for a burglary and theft of items, to the 1400 block of Old Orchard Road for a worthless check and grand larceny, to the 1500 block of Irvington Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 300 block of Hale Drive for a burglary, to Johns Neck Road for a reckless driver, to a walk-in report of an assault and destruction of property, and to a walk-in report of threats made toward another.

May 8: Staff responded to the 100 block of Irvington Road to assist KPD with an assault, to the 4500 block of Merry Point Road for trespassers, and to the 1800 block of Windmill Point Road for civil issue involving a rental agreement.

May 9: Staff responded to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads to assist Virginia State Police with a wanted person, and to the 100 block of Wild Flower Lane for a domestic disturbance.

May 10: Staff responded to the 2800 block of Crawfords Corner Road for a suicidal person, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the highway causing a traffic hazard, to the 900 block of Ocran Road for an attempted burglary, and to a walk-in report of an assault and brandishing a machete or similar weapon.

May 11: Staff responded to the 200 block of Pinckardsville Road for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol, to the 100 block of Ice House Drive for loud music, and to the 300 block of Steamboat Road for a vehicle versus a tree traffic crash.

May 12: Staff responded to Norris Bridge for the report of debris in the highway causing a traffic hazard, to Merry Point Road for four-wheelers on the highway, to River and Sage Hill roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, and to the 800 block of Ocran Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

Staff also conducted seven traffic stops, issued four summonses, assisted three motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled seven calls for traffic control, investigated a building alarm, logged four inmate transports, received four E911 hang-up calls and fielded four calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to traffic crashes on both Irvington and Mount Olive roads and to a brush fire on Apple Grove Road.

The Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Oakwood Avenue, a chemical smell in a residence on White Chapel Road and a traffic crash on River Road.

The White Stone VFD responded to traffic crashes on both Steamboat and Ocran roads.

EMS calls

For the weeks of April 28-May 11, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 61 calls for service, including 37 medical emergencies, five injuries, four traffic accidents, three fires and 12 other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported misdemeanor charges against three individuals.

A Fairfax woman, 29, was charged May 6 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear. She was arrested by the Fairfax County Police Department.

A Tappahannock woman, 23, was charged May 9 with two capias/attachment of the body warrants issued by the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear.

A Heathsville man, 30, was charged May 11 with assault and battery of a family member and violating a protective order.

Fire calls

For the week of May 6-13, the Callao VFD responded to a medical call and a gas leak.

The Fairfields VFD responded to three motor vehicle crashes, a medical call and a request for assistance.

EMS calls

For the week of May 6-13, the Northumberland County Emergency Services, Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Northumberland County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to 29 calls, including 25 medical emergencies, a trauma/fall call and three motor vehicle crashes.
