Sheriffs’ Reports 5-23-19

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported misdemeanor charges against six individuals.

A Kilmarnock man, 41, was charged May 13 with violating probation.

A Kilmarnock woman, 26, was charged May 13 with three counts of using profane or threatening language over the telephone and causing a telephone to ring with intent to annoy another person.

A Lancaster man, 34, was charged May 14 with using profane or threatening language over the telephone.

A White Stone man, 65, was charged May 16 with assault.

A Kilmarnock woman, 65, was charged May 17 with assault and battery of a family member and using profane or threatening language over the telephone.

An Irvington man, 33, was charged May 17 with assault and battery of a family member.

Activity report

May 13: Staff responded to the 100 block of Harris Drive for a burglary and grand larceny, to the 2400 block of Merry Point Road for vandalism of a mailbox, to the 100 block of Daniel Drive for gunshots from a passing vehicle, and to the 1700 block of Harris Drive for a suspicious vehicle.

May 14: Staff responded to Lumberlost Road for a suspicious person, to the 100 block of Greentown Road for gunshots, and to a walk-in report of obtaining money by false pretenses.

May 15: Staff responded to the 100 block of Holly Haven Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 400 block of Kinlock Avenue to assist the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic assault, to the 1500 block of Windmill Point Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the White Stone area of Mary Ball Road for the report of a reckless driver.

May 16: Staff responded to the 100 block of First Street for suspicious activity, to a walk-in report of assault that occurred at the 400 block of Kinlock Avenue, and to the Middlesex County side of the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge to assist the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office with a possible suicidal person.

May 17: Staff responded to the 2100 block of Weems Road for a noise violation; to Washington Street for a large crowd and reckless driving, to the 300 block of Wilson Lane for a disagreement between neighbors, to River Road and Doggett Lane for a single-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, and to a walk-in report of the unauthorized use of a vehicle that occurred in the Irvington area.

May 18: Staff responded to Burgess to assist the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic stop, to Mary Ball and Alfonso roads for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 3000 block of Regina Road for a domestic disturbance, to the Merry Point Ferry for the report of trespassers, and to the 300 block of Campbell Road for a noise violation.

May 19: Staff responded to the 20900 block of Mary Ball Road for a person with mental and addiction issues, to the 18300 block of Mary Ball Road for a suspicious person, to the 100 block of Buzzards Neck Road for persons on four wheelers shooting in the area; and to the 100 block of the Point for an abandoned boat.

Staff also conducted 14 traffic stops, issued six summonses, assisted three motorists, recorded two deer strike accidents, handled four calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarms, processed a mental health order, logged two inmate transports, received nine E911 hang-up calls and fielded five calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

The Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at Mary Ball Road and Avis Trail, two carbon monoxide alarms on Mary Ball Road, a lift assistance request on Hickory Road and a traffic crash at River Road and Doggett Lane.

The Kilmarnock and White Stone VFDs responded to a fire/smoke alarm on King Carter Road.

The White Stone VFD also responded to a traffic crash at Mary Ball and Alfonso roads.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felonies

Devin Lamont Turner, 23, of Colonial Beach was charged May 15 with two capias to show causes from the King George County Circuit Court for failing to obey a court order and failing to report to jail.

Benjamin Louis Wyatt, 37, of White Stone was charged May 18 with two felony counts of possession of a Schedule I or II drug. He also was charged with possession of controlled paraphernalia, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with an open container.

Misdemeanors

A Farnham man, 36, was charged May 15 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Northumberland County General District Court for failing to obey a court order. This was served by the Virginia State Police.

A Montross man, 36, was charged May 17 with possession of marijuana, second plus offense and appearing drunk in public.

Fire calls

For the week of May 13-20, the Callao VFD responded to two medical calls and a fire call.

The Fairfields VFD responded to a motor vehicle crash, two fires and a standby request.

EMS calls

For the week of May 13-20, the Northumberland County Emergency Services, Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Northumberland County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to 31 calls, including 20 medical emergencies, seven trauma/fall calls, two motor vehicle crashes and a standby request.
