Sheriffs’ Reports 9-26-19

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felony

William Scott Abbott, 39, of Lancaster was charged September 18 with abduction by force, strangulation resulting in bodily injury and sexual battery.

Misdemeanors

An Irvington man, 32, was charged September 17 with larceny by bad check.

A Lancaster man, 45, was charged September 17 with violation of pretrial services.

A Lancaster man, 65, was charged September 18 with assault.

A Lancaster woman, 52, was charged September 18 with assault.

A Burgess man, 28, was charged September 21 with possession of marijuana.

A White Stone man, 20, was charged September 22 with petit larceny.

Activity report 

September 16: Staff responded to the 1400 block of Windmill Point Road for an unattended death, Fox Hill Drive for a suspicious vehicle, to a walk-in report of obtaining money under false pretenses that occurred at the 100 block of Washington Street, to the 2700 block of Merry Point Road for an open door on the residence, to the 100 block of Gunther Lane for the report of a suicidal person, and to a walk-in report of threats made toward another.

September 17: Staff responded to the 100 block of First Street to assist emergency medical services with lift assistance, to Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for pursuit of a motorcycle by law enforcement, to the 1200 block of Light Street to assist Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) with a fight in progress involving multiple people, and to the 4100 block of Merry Point Road for the report of trespassers.

September 18: Staff responded to the 200 block of Mt. Jean for obtaining money under false pretenses, to the 700 block of Christ Church Road for a domestic disturbance, to the 100 block of Gunther Lane for a suspicious vehicle, to the 2900 block of Merry Point Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 100 block of First Street for a sexual assault.

September 19: Staff responded to the 8700 block of Mary Ball Road for reckless drivers.

September 20: Staff responded to the 100 block of Cherry Hill Road for a trespasser, to the 1600 block of Morattico Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 100 block of Gunther Lane for four vehicles parked at an abandoned home, and to the 1600 block of Morattico Road for vandalism and theft.

September 21: Staff responded to the 4795 block of Mary Ball Road for an unattended death, and to the 300 block of Myers Drive for vandalism of a residence.

September 22: Staff responded to the 9900 block of Mary Ball Road for a fight in progress with possible weapons involved, to the 500 block of Southport Lane for a trespasser after being forbidden to do so, to Jessie duPont Memorial Highway for the report of a motorcycle being driven recklessly, to the 400 block of Long Cove Lane for vandalism of a glass door; to the 100 block of Irvington Road for a suicidal person, to the 100 block of Comanche Lane to assist NCSO with a fight in progress, to a walk-in report of a sexual assault, and to the 400 block of Lancaster Creek Drive for a domestic disturbance.

Staff also conducted 16 traffic stops, issued 10 summonses, assisted six motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled six calls for traffic control, investigated four building alarm, processed a mental health order, logged four inmate transports, received eight E911 hang-up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

EMS calls

For September 15-21, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 35 calls, including 25 medical emergencies, three injuries, a traffic accident and six other calls.

Northumberland County Sheriff James R. “Doc” Lyons this week reported charges against 16 individuals.

Felonies

Derrick Leenell Brown, 41, of Heathsville was charged September 11 with felony hit and run. He also was charged with driving suspended/revoked and giving a false report to law enforcement. These were Northumberland County warrants served by the Warsaw Police Department.

Frank Taylor Smith Jr., 50, of Hague was charged September 11 with grand larceny. This was a Northumberland County warrant served by Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office.

Rebecca Jane Gladden, 64, of Reedville was charged September 11 with assault and battery of a law enforcement officer and abusive language to another.

Misdemeanors

An Alexandria man, 27, was charged August 30 with failure to sterilize an animal. This was a Northumberland County summons served by the City of Alexandria Sheriff’s Office.

A Reedville man, 21, was charged September 11 with two counts of animal cruelty and two summons were issued for failing to purchase tags.

A Reedville woman, 22, was charged September 11 with two counts of animal cruelty and two summons were issued for failing to purchase tags.

A Callao man, 49 was charged September 13 with failing to appear in the Northumberland County General District Court for an original charge of animal cruelty.

A Heathsville woman, 28, was charged September 14 with a capias/attachment of the body from the Northumberland County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for failing to appear.

A Reedville woman, 56, was charged September 14 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Caroline County General District Court for failing to comply with VASAP.

A Reedville man, 23, was charged September 15 with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.

A Callao man, 18, was charged September 16 with petit larceny, first offense for stealing from the Callao Supermarket.

A Heathsville man, 28, was charged September 16 with assault and battery of a family member. This was a Middlesex County warrant, served by the NCSO.

A Heathsville woman, 37, was charged September 17 with driving under the influence of alcohol, second offense in five years. She also was issued a summons for speeding.

A Heathsville man, 25, was charged September 18 with carrying a concealed weapon in a public place, while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

A Heathsville man, 21, was charged with petit larceny, first offense.

A Callao woman, 62, was charged September 20 with a capias/attachment of the body issued by the Caroline County General District Court for failing to comply with VASAP.
