Sidney B. Worthington

IRVINGTON—Sidney Boteler Worthington died peacefully on September 16, 2018. She was 99 years old.

She was the daughter of the late Basil D. Boteler and Dorothy Rohrer Boteler.

She is survived by her son, Kent Harrison Worthington and his wife, Joyce Worthington; two grandchildren, Phineas Randolph Worthington and his wife, Dominique Worthington, and Catherine Clarke Worthington and her husband, Harvey Becker; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Boteler and Basil Boteler; and a sister, Margaret Shelley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarke Worthington Jr; a daughter, Sidney Boteler Worthington; a son, Clarke Worthington III; a grandson, Tyler Clarke Worthington, and a sister, Alice Nunez.

Sidney was born and raised in Georgetown (Washington, D.C.), where she attended Western High School. Over the years, she made several places her home, including Alexandria, Richmond, Woodberry Forest, Charlottesville and Irvington.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid bridge player, reader and walker. She enjoyed painting, needlework, sports, politics and an evening cocktail.

A graveside service will be held at noon Saturday, September 29, at Thornrose Cemetery, 1041 West Beverley Street, Staunton, to be followed by a reception at Reynolds-Hamrick Funeral Home, 18 West Frederick Street, Staunton.
