Six new trustees take their posts at Chesapeake Academy

The Chesapeake Academy board of trustees recently welcomed six new board members.

Members of the board share their talents with the school for three-year terms, said head of school Julianne Keesee.

Marion James, originally from Kansas City, Mo., is a graduate of Wheaton College in Massachusetts. James worked for a Canadian brokerage firm in New York as a research librarian before moving to the Northern Neck. She is married to Leland James, and their son, Leland, graduated from Chesapeake Academy.

A very active volunteer, James has at different times served as room parent, manager of the Osprey Nest; and CAPPA president for two years. She was awarded the Norma Jean Edwards Volunteer Award for her many contributions to Chesapeake Academy. She also is a volunteer at Lancaster Community Library and at the Steamboat Era Museum in Irvington.

John O’Shaughnessy, executive vice president and chief credit officer for Chesapeake Bank, is a founding member of the board of the Northern Neck Family YMCA. He has served on the boards of the Steamboat Era Museum and the Foundation for Historic Christ Church. He also serves on the board of the Northern Neck Middlesex Free Health Clinic.

O’Shaughnessy and his wife, Nancy, have three grown children—all Chesapeake Academy alumni.
