FAIRPORT—After months of work in all kinds of weather, the end is in sight for the refit of the historic skipjack Claud W. Somers as cruising season approaches.
The former oyster boat, built in 1911, is owned by the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, and is maintained and sailed by volunteers. It has been on the hard at Jennings Boatyard in Fairport since early December 2025 undergoing extensive work, thanks to two grants….
