Slaw is Region A player of the year in girls varsity basketball

Rappahannock High School junior Candace Slaw recently received Region A’s highest honor for varsity girls basketball. Slaw, who averaged 23.7 points per game this season, was chosen regional player of the year.

West Point coach Bryan Bishop was named the coach of the year.

Slaw, along with teammate junior Nakiya West, also filled spots on the all-region first team.

Colonial Beach senior Cynari Davis was the only other Northern Neck District player receiving first-team honors.

The Northern Neck filled five spots on the all-region second team including Lancaster senior A’Nijah Ball, who was the Northern Neck’s second leading scorer with a 15-points per game average. The second team also….
