Lancaster High School state champion jumper Daveon Smith placed among the top 10 in a track and field meet June 18 that pitted him against athletes from across the country.
Smith, a senior at LHS, had a 21’3” long jump at the Adidas Nationals at North Carolina AT&T to place ninth in the event. There were some 49 jumpers participating from schools of various sizes.
“There were people from everywhere,” said Smith. “And they were really good, really experienced.”
