Sports broadcasting ‘dream team’ recognized

A sports broadcasting partnership that spanned 25 years received recognition from the Commonwealth this week.

Carroll Lee Ashburn and Demetrius Means, who together have broadcast 468 high school girls and boys basketball games since pairing up in 1995, were presented a resolution from the Virginia General Assembly Monday night by Del. Margaret Ransone. About 35 friends and family members attended the ceremony at Kilmarnock Town Hall.

Fittingly, the celebration came a day after Ashburn’s 90th birthday.

Del. Ransone, who represents District 99 which includes the Northern Neck, was the patron of the resolution. She said she wanted….
