St. Stephen’s to host international services

Worship services from New Zealand, Kenya, Scotland and India will be coming to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Heathsville at 9 a.m. on upcoming Sundays, beginning August 19.

“The Episcopal Church in the United States is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion and we at St. Stephen’s wanted to have four Sunday services in which we worship using the prayer books from four other parts of the Anglican Communion around the world,” said The Rev. Lucia Lloyd.

“This will not only provide a connection with our brothers and sisters around the globe, it will also broaden the variety of ways we worship God and we will see what gifts God has for us to deepen our worship and our celebration of God’s activity in our souls and in our lives,” said Rev. Lloyd.

The four international worship services will be once a month for four months: New Zealand on August 19, Kenya on September 9, Scotland on October 14 and India on November 11.

After each international liturgy, the congregation will gather for coffee and refreshments, followed by a discussion.

“We will talk about what we noticed as we worshiped God in each different way and how our worship and connection with God has been enriched by it, as well as ways in which we appreciate our own liturgies. We’re inviting people to it as a pilgrimage of the spirit together and curious visitors are warmly welcomed to attend,” she said.
