HEATHSVILLE—Steward Eldon Noel Sr. of Heathsville, known as “Juney,” passed away August 9, 2022. He was born on August 24, 1957, to Mary Elaine Noel and the late Eldon Steward Walters in Northumberland County.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Annie and Wilson Noel, Luther and Genevieve Walters; sister, Sharon Denis Noel; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Dorothy Samuel; brothers-in-law, Anthony Bass and Casey Samuel.
He received his spiritual blessing from Galilee United Methodist Church and became a member at an early age. Steward was educated in the Northumberland Public Schools system. He was united in holy matrimony to Alice Samuel. Their union was blessed with four children.
Steward was employed by Omega Protein for more than 40 years between Louisiana and Reedville as a top chef. He was a professional cook that would make you cry for more.
Steward enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. He was a man that loved his family and made sure that he provided all their needs. He instilled in his children that if you work hard you can have what you want. They knew from watching him what it meant to work and earn an honest day’s pay. He adored his grandchildren. They were an extension of his heartbeat! Steward also was dressed to the utmost. Can we say GQ Magazine?
Steward loved his sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was always fresh along with the upkeep of his sparkling vehicles. If there was a dollar to be made, Steward was going to get it. Our father had a great sense of humor and an outgoing personality. He was creative and could fix anything.
His genuine display of care, humility, faithfulness and kindness to others, even until the end, was testament to how he wanted to live daily. He was always putting others first, providing a listening ear and sound wisdom, no matter what the situation may be.
He leaves to cherish a legacy, love and precious memories to a loving wife of 30 plus years, Alice Noel of Heathsville; four beloved children, Erica Noel of Heathsville, Keenan Samuel, Steward Noel Jr. and Tirrell Samuel; grandchildren, Keziah, Jiuiliana, Keenan Jr., Kiyona, Keyona, Zy’Mier, Jacyiah, Cintez, Cincere, Isaiah, Elmari and Jonasti; beloved mother, Mary Elaine Noel; goddaughter, Markasia Waller of Newport News; siblings, Shelia Scott, William Thomson (Yvonne), Michael Thompson (Yvonne), Pamela Walters (Michael), Mavis Darlene Thompson, Ursula Walters, Purcell Walters, Darryn Walters; aunts, Shirley Harcum (Donald), Vernita Elmore (Ellis), Mavis Dates, Elsie Noel, Lela Brown and auntie Fredella; uncles, Linwood Walters and Larry Walters; in-laws, Juanita Samuel (Darryl), Nancy Henderson (Quinton), Thomas Samuel (Commesha) and Tyrone Samuel; special friends, Jimmy Cottrell and Bruce Harcum; along with a host of other relatives and caring friends.
