WHITE STONE—Stewart Andrew Simmons Jr., 87, of White Stone passed away on August 15 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Kilmarnock to the late Stewart A. Simmons Sr. and Lou Emma Gresham Simmons. After retiring from working his beloved boat, the Jeanne S., he spent the next 11 years driving for Bay Transit.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Reed Morgan; and a granddaughter, April Cynthia Watson.
He is outlived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Barrack Simmons; a daughter, Vicky Simmons Watson (Jerry) of Lancaster; sons, Stewart A. Simmons III (Karen Ann) of Kilmarnock and Stephen Lee Simmons (Honey Taylor) of White Stone; a sister, Emma Lou Fiddler (Beckwith) of Covenant Woods, Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Victoria Ann Simmons and Andrew Joseph Simmons of Kilmarnock, and Parker Lee Simmons and Brody Taylor Simmons of White Stone.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to Dr. Kevin J. McGrath for all his years of kindness and care.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 19, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Interment will follow the service at White Stone United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family invites you to join them for a reception following the service.
Pallbearers will be Cundiff Simmons, George Ed Simmons, Edward (Ed) Davis, Beckwith Fiddler, George Fiddler and Chas Rowe.
