Strings Crewe begins seventh season

The Strings Crew is recruiting new students ages 9-12 as it embarks on a seventh season.

Twenty students take free weekly lessons in violin, viola and cello at three venues: Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Weems, Northumberland County Public Library in Heathsville and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Warsaw.

“Three of our students moved away this summer, giving us room to enroll beginners,” said program director Sue Nunn. To register, contact Nunn at suenunn41@gmail.com.

Cello is taught by Rebecca Young, who taught K-12 music and band in public schools for 42 years. Violin and viola are taught by Greg Bowen, who has a master’s in performance and pedagogy. He plays viola for the Northern Neck Orchestra.

Lessons are one-on-one with instructors and free instruments are sized to fit the….
