Garren Wardlaw, a second grader at Lancaster Primary School, recently sold her award-winning collage at the Rappahannock Art League Studio Gallery.
She is the first primary school student to sell a piece of art at the RAL, said LPS art teacher Kendra Robinson. Her Eric Carle inspired collage sold to visiting art enthusiasts from the DC Metropolitan area.
The buyers described her work as engaging, magical and expertly created. They were extremely impressed with her artistic skills, beautiful use of color and how she created space and depth, said Robinson.
She also won the Primary School’s Best in Show at Lancaster Public Schools county-wide art show.
“Lancaster Primary School is very proud of her success and the future possibilities this creates for all of our hard-working artists,” said Robinson.
