Students create winning posters

After competing with hundreds of other fifth and sixth graders, Northumberland Middle School students won recognition in the 20th annual U.S. Power Squadron’s poster contest, an adjunct of the U.S. Power Squadron’s Kids Program. The theme was “Welcome to the Neighborhood!”

Last spring, posters by Northumberland Middle School students Anna Pridgen, 9-11 age group, and Corri Minor, 12-14 age group, were selected as the best of all the artwork created at the school, reported public relations chairman Ray Reuter.

Their posters were forwarded to compete at the District 5 level where again they both placed first, said Reuter. Their posters went on to compete at the national level where Pridgen’s poster was awarded a third-place ribbon and $75.

“Congratulations Anna and Carrie for competing against hundreds of other middle school posters from all over our nation and coming out winners,” said Reuter.
