The Lancaster Community Library’s (LCL) Sundays at Two 2022 series will conclude on Sunday, May 1, with “Lives Bound Together: Slavery at George Washington’s Mount Vernon,” by Dr. Susan P. Schoelwer, PhD. The presentation will begin at 2 p.m. at LCL, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.
Dr. Schoelwer is executive director of Historic Preservation and Collections and the Robert H. Smith Senior Curator at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, reported library director Alice cooper.
At the end of George Washington’s life in 1799, the population at his Mount Vernon plantation numbered more than 300 enslaved men, women and children. The recent special exhibition Lives Bound Together….
