LANCASTER—Lancaster supervisors on Thursday, September 24, approved a rezoning application submitted by Joseph “Paul” and Margaret Elbourn to change a 1.969-acre parcel at Mary Ball Road and Devils Bottom roads from agricultural to general commercial, but it was not without some objections by those who live nearby.
Elizabeth Moore said she is concerned about the traffic that will be generated and how the business would “change the area.” Thomas Beahn, a member of the board of directors for the Laurel Point Property Owners Association, said homeowners in the neighborhood were “concerned about the development.”
Director of planning and zoning Andrea Pruett said “the surrounding area is not exclusively agricultural or residential in character. The Route 3 corridor in this vicinity includes a mix of municipal, service/commercial, contractor-related and other nonresidential uses with additional concentrations of commercial and industrial activity located nearby.”
