WILLIAMSBURG—Susan Cohoe Stuart peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on March 22, 2026, in Williamsburg.
She was born in Hibbing, Minn., on October 6, 1932; graduated from Hibbing High School and then the University of Arizona.
Upon graduation in 1954, Susan married James R. Stuart Jr. also from Hibbing. He was a career Army officer. After over 30 years in the Army with lots of moves they retired to Kilmarnock.
Susan joins her husband; her parents, Welby and Grace; and sister, Gail, in heaven.
Susan is survived by her children, Mary S. Schwab (Richard), James R. Stuart III (Leisl), Blythe S. Norris (Roger); four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Susan was always gentle, kind and patient. She lived a life defined by her unwavering faith in God, service to the church, time spent at the lake cabin in northern Minnesota, love of birds and wildlife and deep devotion to her family and friends. In His light, we find comfort.
Private funeral and burial will be held in April. If wishing to honor Susan’s memory, donations can be made to Samaritan’s Purse (samaritanspurse.org) or Wildlife Center of Virginia (wildlifecenter.org). No flowers please.
