Maestro

The Rappahannock Music Study Club invites the public to hear Michael Repper, the Grammy-award-winning conductor of the Northern Neck Orchestra, at 11 a.m. today, April 24, at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington.

Arts Alive!

The Friends of Northumberland Public Library (NPL) will host an Arts Alive! reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 25, at NPL, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.

Featured guests are I Felt Fine Design artist Barbara Brecher and photojournalist Michael Geissinger. Their Photos & Fibers exhibit is on display at NPL through May 10.

Cantori Choral

The Cantori Choral Ensemble will present spring concerts at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Walnut Hills Baptist Church, 1014 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, and 7:30 p.m. May 4 at Abingdon Episcopal Church, 4645 George Washington Highway, Gloucester.

Tickets may be reserved by sending a check made out to Cantori, 3341 Derby Lane, Williamsburg, VA 23185. Advance tickets are $15 for adults. Tickets at the door will be $20 for adults. Tickets are good for either location.

Nature photography

Friends of Dragon Run will hold a general membership meeting by Zoom at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 27.

The program will be Photography and Nature: An Exploration of Great Nature Photos, Photography Tips and Cell Phone Magic, led by Jeff Wright. A link for the Zoom can be found at dragonrun.org.

NNK250 series

The 2025 NNK250 Signature Speaker Series will continue at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the Rappahannock Indigenous Conservation Education Center, Cat Point Creek Unit, Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge, 2570 Newland Road, Warsaw.

Dr. Brad Hatch will present “The Kidnapping of Pocahontas, Politics and Mythmaking in Patawomeck Country.”

Founders’ tea

The Northumberland Homemakers Club will hold an annual tea at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at St. Stephens Church in Heathsville. The club invites anyone related to the original members of the organization to join them for the tea.

Relatives will be seated at the president’s table. Those who plan to attend are urged to call president Yvette Harding, 580-0931.

Garden week tour

The Garden Club of the Northern Neck will host a Historic Garden Week tour Wednesday, April 30, on the Crab Point Peninsula, along the Rappahannock River near White Stone.

A garden and four waterfront homes will be open for this walking/shuttle tour. Tickets: $50 in advance at vagardenweek.org for timed entry: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1 p.m.-4 p.m.; $60 on tour day.

RFM concert

Janie Meneely and Rob Van Sante will be featured from 6-8 p.m. May 10 at Reedville Fishermen’s Museum (RFM), 504 Main Street, Reedville. The concert will benefit the skipjack Claud W. Somers.

Food and beverages will be sold. Admission is $20 for members or $25 for others. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free.

Rotary meetings

The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone. Those interested in the speaker topics or Rotary are welcome.

Diamonds & Denim

The Healthy Harvest Food Bank, 55 Commerce Drive, Warsaw, will host the annual Diamonds & Denim on May 17. The gala will open with a cocktail hour from 4-5 p.m., followed by dinner and dessert from 5-6 p.m., program and auction from 5:45-6:30 p.m. and dancing to The Haus Band from 6:30 into the night.

Single admission tickets are $75; sponsorship levels range from $250 to $10,000, with accompanying perks. Purchase tickets at www.hhfb.org.

Fish fry

The Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will host a fish fry from 4-6 p.m. May 24. The fee will be $20 for adults, $10 for ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 and younger. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

“Frenemies”

“Founding Frenemies: Hamilton and the Virginians,” a traveling exhibit from the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, will be on exhibit through May 26 at the Mathews Museum, 200 Main Street Mathews. 

Co-sponsored by the Mathews Museum and the Mathews County Historical Society, the exhibit complements Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning “Hamilton,” which tells the story of Alexander Hamilton’s relationships with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

Mahjong

The Woman’s Club of White Stone hosts mahjong games from 1-4 p.m. Mondays at the WCWS Clubhouse, 560 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. Text 436-7144 to reserve a table. The fee is $5 per person.

Theater camp

Registration has opened for The Lancaster Players Youth Theater Workshop August 4 through 9, for ages 8-18. Auditions will be held at 2 p.m. August 3 at The Lancaster Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone, to ascertain individual skill levels allowing instructors to tailor the workshop to the skills of the participants.

yoga in Italy

Registration has begun for InsideOut Yoga’s (IOY) retreat to Italy October 12-19, 2025.
