Thomas C. Somers

WHITE STONE—Thomas Carroll Somers, 94, of White Stone passed away on November 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Foxwells on February 15, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Carroll and Estelle Ingram Somers; his sister, Elsie Somers Davis; his first wife, Sandra Griffin Somers; and grandson, Ryan Bransford.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Nost Somers; children, Paul Henry Somers (Beth) and Cathy J. Somers; and step-children, Eric F. Nost (Margaret) and Kylie Nost Bransford (Ken). He had six grandchildren, Thomas W. Somers (Samantha), Jonathan C. Somers (Nicole), William N. Somers (Carrie), Samuel I. Somers (Jessica), E. Foster Nost Jr. (Ann) and Laura N. Carroll (Roth); and 11 great-grandchildren, Emma Somers, Aubrey Somers, Madeline Somers, Juliette Somers, Harper Somers, Henry Somers, Owen Somers, Brooks Somers, Jane Nost, Foster Nost and Henry Carroll. He was blessed to have Tiney Betts as a devoted caregiver over the last year.

TC, as he was known to many, was a retired fishboat captain. He was a lifelong waterman fishing menhaden steamers, pound nets and oystering. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He loved to take care of his yard and with his wife Kay traveled the world on their many trips.

He could be stubborn yet flexible, quiet but strong, a constant tease, and an example of strength and devotion.

He loved a good gathering and was the life of the party at dances at White Stone Beach, White Stone Volunteer Fire Department and Windmill Point Yacht Club. He loved listening to music, especially Elvis Presley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department or Chesapeake Academy. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
